Minimum qualifications:* Experience in operating systems and networking protocols.* Experience in a data center, network operation center, help desk, or similar environments.* Experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting computer and server hardware.Preferred qualifications:* Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.* Understanding/experience of hardware architecture, maintenance, and repair.* Networking knowledge, including topology and protocol understanding.* Ability to collaborate and partner with people and teams to overcome challenges.* Intermediate level Linux skills including installation, systems administration, and troubleshooting.* Ability to work non-standard hours and differing work rotations/shifts (including working on holidays and shift rotations), lift and move 50 lbs (22 kg) of equipment, work on platforms, ladders and under raised floors.About the jobGoogle isn't just a software company. The Hardware Operations team is responsible for monitoring the state-of-the-art physical infrastructure behind Google's powerful search technology. As an Operations Technician, you'll install, configure, test, troubleshoot and maintain hardware (like servers and its components) and server software (like Google's Linux cluster). You'll also take on the configuration of more complex components such as networks, routers, hubs, bridges, switches and networking protocols. You'll participate in or lead small project teams on larger installations and develop project contingency plans. A typical day involves manual movement and installation of racks, and while it can sometimes be physically demanding, you are excited to work with infrastructure that is at the cutting-edge of computer technology.In this role, you will have duties that range from the physical deployment of data center-related technology to working closely with various stakeholders. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Learn more about benefits at Google.Responsibilities* Repair broken equipment, including servers, networking, and storage devices (e.g., replace hard drives, replace RAM, swap CPUs, motherboards, etc.).* Contribute and lead efforts/projects in the deployment, maintenance, and support of current and new data center servers and network infrastructure.
