The D.A. Collins Family of Companies has brought safety, quality, and productivity to industrial, infrastructure, highway, and bridge construction for over 70 years. As a member of the D.A. Collins Companies, Jointa Galusha, LLC. is seeking a **Loader Operator** at our Hartford, NY facility.
The primary function of this position is to operate equipment, including, but not limited to, load and unload several types of heavy equipment, perform routine maintenance, and repair on equipment and perform a variety of tasks. This is a skilled position involving the ability to diagnose, adjust and repair plant equipment safely and efficiently. This position will operate one or several other types of equipment.
**Essential job functions include but are not limited to:**
* Operate equipment, not limited to, loader, excavator, dozer, skid steer, water truck, and sweeper
* Perform a wide variety of tasks that will including having to lift heavy objects, stand for extended periods of time, stretch, walk, climb, and bend under potentially adverse field conditions and be able to perform visual tasks such as back up spotting, hear and react to back up alarms
* Perform pre-shift evaluations, routine maintenance, and basic repairs on equipment
* Safely and efficiently load vehicles with aggregates
* Follow safety rules, regulations and procures
* Perform material handling and storage
* Detect hazards and malfunctions and respond accordingly
* Be flexible and able to take and follow orders in an independent or group setting
* Display a professional and courteous attitude to customers, co-workers, and supervisors
* Must work in all weather conditions
**Competencies:**
Good knowledge of how to operate multiple types of construction equipment; basic knowledge of how to diagnose and repair equipment; basic knowledge of plant production of materials; Incumbent must be diligent to safety rules, regulations, and procedures. Incumbent must be dependable, possess suitable time management skills, be safety conscious, and self-motivated. Incumbent must be able to maintain constant alertness to multiple concurrent activities of a site, including the activities of other employees and contractors, the operation of stationary equipment and the movement of mobile equipment.
**Minimum Qualifications:**
* Candidate must have basic mechanical knowledge, have previous experience operating heavy equipment and possess a valid drivers license
* High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is preferred
* Preference may be given to those candidates who possess a CDL-B
* Candidate must pass a pre-hire drug screen (Drug Free Employer) and will be subject to random, post-accident/incident and reasonable suspicion drug testing
