**POSITION SUMMARY**

Assembles and packs hood and sub-assemblies by following system generated paperwork and drawings. Follows testing criteria written for any type of hood. All work will comply with the quality standards and systems outlined by the Metal Plant.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Reads the system generated ticket and selects the correct components to meet the customer requirements.

Comprehends any sketch, drawing, or blueprint to assist in the assembly process.

Performs the sub-assemblies required for the product.

Assembles the final product per the ticket using various hand tools, power tools, small table equipment, and assembly tables.

Performs any testing requirements, makes any adjustments required, and records findings on the proper form.

Packs hardware, component parts, and final product when required.

Modifies any material, including wood skids, to correctly pack the final product.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to interpret fume hood specification sheets. Mechanical ability is a plus. Working knowledge of basic blueprints. Basic computer skills.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
