Job Title: Material Handler (MMMOP)

Department: Warehouse

Reports To: Area Warehouse Supervisor

Summary

Manually move freight, stock, or other materials. Some of these workers feed or remove material to or from machines, clean vehicles, pick up unwanted household goods, and pack materials for moving.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):

WHS Staff/Material Handler

  • Manually move materials from one place to another.
  • Pack and/or wrap products by hand.
  • Keep a record of the material moved.
  • General housekeeping of warehouse and equipment.
Pick-Put away Operator -
  • Use barcode scanner to accept order and go to location to pick order.
  • Verify correct part with a part check
  • Print label and verify against supplier label
  • Label product to customer's specifications
  • Put away product by scanning TU and accept for put away, proceed to put away location
Hand Pack -
  • Assemble cartons/boxes
  • Obtains and sorts product
  • Inserts or puts product into containers
  • Weighs containers and adjusts quantity
  • Labels containers
  • Inspects materials, products, and containers at each step of the packaging process
Forklift Operator -
  • Move Levels and presses pedals to drive truck and control movement of lifting apparatus.
  • Positions forks, or other lifting device under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, or materials and transports load to designated area.
  • Unloads and stacks material by raising and lowering lifting device.
Recharge batteries and conducts pre-use safety audit using designated checklist.

Machine Operator -

Starts machine and observes operation to detect malfunction of machine.

Stops machine and reports malfunction to supervisor and/or maintenance.

Programs machine with packaging specification specific to each product/part.

Inspects filled container to ensure that product is packaged according to specifications.

Feeds product to conveyors and hoppers and unloads packaged product.

Breakdown pallets.

General housekeeping of warehouse & equipment.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six months to one-year related experience and /or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports & business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, employees of the organization, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate and percent. Ability to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram from. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer/System Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have Beginner knowledge of:
  • Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Outlook
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Current valid driver's license
  • Current valid forklift operator's license a plus
