We are seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused Field Service Technician, to provide superior quality client support in a timely and professional manner. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, testing, and repairing ophthalmic diagnostic equipment, examination lane equipment, eyeglass lens edgers and frame tracers. Additionally, you will assist other departments with technical matters and product information. Travel is required for this field service position, including both air and road travel. Employee will be provided a company vehicle or personal vehicle allowance.


Previous Optical Experience a plus!


Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with electro/mechanical repair and troubleshooting.
  • Minimum high school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience with electronics (computer) repair is a plus.
  • Previous experience with diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Must have an active and valid US driver s license.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work unsupervised.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office or similar business software/applications.
  • Willingness to seek and participate in training to improve technical and professional skills.
  • Excellent communication skills to interface with customers and coworkers.
  • Team player.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities: (Additional duties may be assigned)

  • Provide verbal, written, and on-site technical support to clients.
  • Maintain and improve business relationships with clients, ensuring their satisfaction at all times.
  • Perform installations, preventive maintenance, remedial maintenance, and repair difficult problems with ophthalmic diagnostic equipment, examination lane equipment, eyeglass lens edgers, frame tracers and accessories.
  • Submit paperwork on time in a neat and concise manner.
  • Take responsibility for assigned company assets, such as inventory, tools, and vehicles.
  • Maintain personal warehouse inventory and associated support documentation.
  • Possess thorough knowledge of policies, procedures, and technical information.
  • Perform shop and on-site repairs of company Inventory and client equipment, including inspecting and second signing the work of others.
  • Travel as required.
  • Perform physical installation of equipment at client locations, including providing operational and preventive maintenance instruction.


Equipment & Physical Requirements:

  • Able to handle the physical requirements of loading, unloading, and moving equipment up to 100 lbs. with or without assistance.
  • The ability to routinely operate hand tools as required.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to walk; sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
