Commonwealth Communications (Comms2) serves as the communications and digital hub of Pennsylvania s progressive, public interest, and pro-democracy community. Comms2 writes and produces content for progressive organizations, coordinates communications with partner and allied stakeholders, and monitors and develops strategies and tactics to best navigate the ever-changing digital and narrative landscape. Comms2 helps shape the political environment in Pennsylvania by centralizing institutional knowledge in a dynamic communications organization. The organization collaborates in filling the needs of partners priorities, coalitions, and campaigns throughout the commonwealth.


Job Description


The digital content creator is a junior associate who produces Pennsylvania-focused digital assets for Comms2 as well as partner organizations. This role will focus on content production and digital organizing and must have a working knowledge of digital and social media platforms.


The digital content creator will work to produce creative videos, static graphics, and gif content that highlight progressive issues happening throughout the state and the priorities of partner organizations. This role will work closely with the rest of the digital team to develop content with outside vendors, and partner organizations in Pennsylvania for ongoing advocacy,

accountability, and electoral campaigns.


The digital content creator will create material that can be tested and analyzed on relevant digital channels to recommend best practices. They will work with organizations of all sizes to address digital needs.


Responsibilities


  • Work with a mix of images, videos, and other media to create content for vote.pa website and Comms2 social media pages.
  • Develop political-focused paid and organic digital content across social media platforms.
  • Add digital capacity to a wide variety of progressive organizations and partners across the state.
  • Leverage digital tools like Photoshop, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Illustrator, In Design, Canva, PicMonkey, and other design-focused platforms to produce digital materials.
  • Work with partner organizations to develop and execute digital campaigns.
  • Develop quality work in a limited amount of time in response to the often fast-paced nature of politics in PA.
  • Special projects and other tasks as assigned by the deputy director for digital strategy.


Qualifications


  • Experience using the Adobe Suite, Canva, and other content development platforms to develop creative digital assets.
  • Extensive knowledge of social media platforms and an interest in leveraging emerging mediums.
  • Strong grasp of grammar, style, and on-brand writing.
  • General familiarity with civic government and progressive politics in Pennsylvania.
  • Ability to work as a part of a remote team.
  • Be comfortable working on deadlines and can manage shifting priorities while communicating with the team.


Experience


  • 1-5 years of direct experience developing public-facing web and social content and using social media platforms.
  • Commitment to working within diverse coalitions to achieve pragmatic goals.
  • Working for progressive organizations in previous capacities, including but not limited to organizing, field, communications, political, or progressive policy.


Salary


Salary is commensurate with experience. The range is between $50,000 - $60,000. Benefits include health care coverage, technology reimbursement, and paid time off.


Though this position is remote, candidates living in Pennsylvania are preferred, as expectations include:

  • Meeting with their teammates in person a few times a year
  • Traveling for instate and national events expenses covered.


There is also the option to work from satellite offices in Harrisburg and Philadelphia.
