Purpose of Role: The Buyer is responsible for maintaining accountability for the supply chain of service operations in Tucson, AZ. They will oversee the procurement of materials, services, parts, and capital equipment. They will maintain close contact with vendors by email, telephone and plant visits to ensure business needs are being met and project plans are being executed timely.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage Vendors & Suppliers: Manage designated supplier base, which includes consolidating and replacing suppliers as required and selecting, managing, and optimizing vendors based on suppliers commitment to quality, on time delivery, pricing conditions and historic performance.
  • Planning: Manage MRP requirements by placing POs and administering the overall material flow from suppliers, which includes expediting parts as needed for organizational needs
  • Product Knowledge: Become technically educated in products in an effort to know and manage the cost drivers where necessary and involve other parts of Weir Minerals to augment technical interaction and requirements
  • Liaise with Departments: Participate in cross functional teams to ensure the continuous, ongoing improvements of processes, productivity and quality, while reducing costs.
  • Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world class safety culture.


Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in supply chain management, a technical degree or equivalent combination of education or experience.
  • 3-5 years of purchasing experience
  • CPSM certification preferred.
  • Basic math, reasoning and language skills with an ability to Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
