Role Summary:


The NPI Test Engineer will report to the Principal Functional Architect and work closely with the Sr. FW Engineer. This Role is responsible for system integration testing of next-gen charging systems throughout the entire New Product Introduction (NPI) phase and will be key to ensuring a successful launch into the Electrify America public network. This includes the coordination of test cases and status between the Functional Architects, FW Engineers, and development teams to ensure correct implementation of each function until confirmation.

The NPI Test Engineer will also work closely with the Electrify America QA team to provide input on test cases, test execution status, and regular updates on the maturity of the system. The NPI Test Engineer will also be the first point of contact for test results and issues related to next-gen products.


Role Responsibilities:

Main responsibility EV Charging NPI System Testing (80%)

  • Conduct testing and validation of all charging system functions in accordance with specifications.
  • Work closely with the development teams (internal and external) to review implementations before and during testing.
  • Provide regular status updates for each test performed to confirm correct functionality.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for testing status and analysis of problems found on the product during NPI phase.
  • Support in analysis of quality issues prior to development.

Additional responsibilities Interface to Test and Validation Team (10%)

  • Work closely with the Electrify America test and validation team to inform about current status of product maturity
  • Serve as the first point of contact for any issues found during testing in the NPI phase

Additional responsibilities NPI Testing and Integration Process Improvement (10%)

  • Improve system integration test and validation processes for NPI in alignment with Functional Architects and engineering team.
  • Collaborate with test teams to establish best practices.

Qualifications - External

Years of Relevant Experience:

  • 5+ years of related systems engineering or test engineering experience

Education:

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent

Skills:

  • Analytical and conceptual thinking using logic and reason, creative and strategic
  • Computer savvy skilled in the use of software
  • Integration joining people, processes and systems

Specialized Skills (Required):

  • Experience defining and/or executing test plans, designing test setups, and analyzing data Excellent analytical & computer skills

  • Demonstrated experience in Test center collaboration
  • Experience with Agile project management, including Confluence and JIRA tools
  • Experience with System Integration testing of IOT devices, via JSON or similar protocols
  • Experience with AC/DC, DC/DC converters
  • Experience with PLC communication

Specialized Skills (Desired):

  • Experience with EV and EVSE testing
  • Experience with CAN communication, OCPP, EV Charging DIN and ISO specifications and protocols
  • Knowledge, insight and understanding of the electric vehicle industry
  • Understanding of electric vehicle charging interfaces, incl. standards such as UL 2202, SAE J1772 and related standards

Work Flexibility:

  • Hybrid Role 3 days on-site in Reston Office or Center of Excellence
