Job Details

Temporary Need: 04/01/24 - 11/29/24. Eight (8) full-time, seasonal, temporary Farm Laborers needed. Requirements: A minimum of three (3) months experience, able to lift 50 lbs, be able, willing, and available to perform the specified job duties for the duration of the contract period. Wage is $16.63/hr. Worksite location: Work will be performed in Kanosh, Utah. Employer owns and/or controls all worksites. Hours: 54 hours/week, 7:00am - 4:30pm, Mon-Sat. Duties: Crops : Corn, alfalfa, hay, straw, silage. Operate heavy equipment, including but not limited to tractor, grader, track hoe, backhoe, loader, or skid steer, productively, efficiently, and safely. Inspect, maintain, and operate agricultural equipment in a safe and proper way in order to avoid accidents or undue maintenance or repair work. Perform mechanical duties including but not limited to routine maintenance on equipment, oil changes, and implement repairs. Greases, oils, and performs minor repairs on equipment, using grease gun, oilcans, and hand tools. Perform crop cultivation tasks including plowing, planting, spraying, irrigating, fertilizing, harvesting, and hauling. Plant seeds. Pick, cut, lift, or pull crops. Install/maintain irrigation systems and water lines. Move and install irrigation pipes and equipment. Apply pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and other crop protectants. Apply fertilizers, plant growth chemicals, conditioners, and other plant related treatments at the correct times depending on plant type, growth, climate, and crop conditions. Mow, cut, and weed fields. Perform ditching, shoveling, hoeing, hauling, ground preparation, and other manual tasks. Bending, stooping, and kneeling required. Use hand tools including but not limited to hoes, shovels, shears, clippers, loppers, and saws. Lift, carry, and load/unload products or supplies. Assist with farm building/field maintenance and repairs. Build/repair fences. Feed cattle. Move cattle. Inspect for medical or parasitic issues. Workers with a clean driving record (no major moving violations such as but not limited to Driving While Intoxicated or Reckless Driving) and able to obtain an insurable driver's license may drive company vehicles. Workers with appropriate licenses and a valid doctor's certificate may transport other workers. Terms and conditions of employment: Employer-paid post-hire, random, upon suspicion and post-accident drug testing required. Any worker who declines to take or fails a mandatory drug test will be terminated. Workers testing positive will be immediately terminated and paid for all hours worked, if any. In the case of a non-local or foreign worker who is terminated for failure to pass a drug or alcohol test, the employer will arrange least-cost transportation to the worker's place of recruitment, at the worker's expense. Tools, room, board, kitchen facilities and transportation provided at no cost to workers. Workers will be required to keep all property, housing, and farm buildings clean. Must be able to provide employment eligibility documentation (I9 verification) upon hire. The employer will provide, at no cost to the worker, Workers' Compensation coverage or private insurance which is equal to Workers' Compensation laws for comparable employment. Employer guarantees to offer employment for a minimum of 3/4 of the workdays of the total specified period during which the work contract and all extensions thereof are in effect, beginning with the first day after worker arrives at the place of employment and ending on the expiration date specified in the work contract or extensions thereof. In Act of God termination, the 3/4 guarantee period ends on the date of termination. After worker has completed 50% of the work contract period, employer will reimburse worker for the cost of transportation and subsistence from the place of recruitment to the place of employment. Upon completion of the work contract, employer will pay reasonable costs of return transp or ation and subsistence (travel reimbursement subsistence will be the minimum amount of $15.46 per 24-hour period of travel without receipts and the maximum amount will be $59 per day with receipts) from the place of employment to the place of recruitment, except when the worker will not be returning to the place of recruitment due to subsequent employment with another employer who agrees to pay such costs, in which case the employer will only pay for the transportation and subsistence to the next job. The amount of the transportation payment will be equal to the most economical and reasonable similar common carrier transportation charges for the distance involved. The offered wage equals or exceeds the highest of the prevailing wage (AWER) that is issued and determined by DOL for the time period the work is performed (or whichever is the highest rate). This job is in connection with a future H-2A labor certification application.
