JOB TITLE: HVAC Mechanical Engineer (Multiple Locations)


ANTICIPATED COMPENSATION: $90k - $140k (including base salary and bonuses)


POSITION DESCRIPTION: Millig Design Build is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design HVAC systems in ground-up and retrofit situations, support decarbonization planning and design, and develop facility improvement projects within our fully integrated team.


Our in-house engineers are responsible for designing MEP projects which are also implemented and commissioned by Millig, ensuring the highest level of quality and control throughout all phases of the project. As an engineer on Millig s projects, you will have the opportunity to directly support your designs as they are built, and because we aren t consulting engineers, our focus is always on quality, not billable hours.


This candidate will have the opportunity to train under some of the best engineers in the country to become an expert in designing systems to make buildings healthier, safer, and more energy efficient. Our clients include major universities, international pharmaceutical manufacturers, state governments, counties, and school districts.

Some travel is required, averaging about one trip per month, with the rest of your work completed from home or from one of Millig s office locations. Millig is open to hiring candidates based in various locations, including Colorado, Kansas, Washington, and Oregon.



RESPONSIBILITIES:


Auditing and Site Assessment

  • Support the completion of preliminary and detailed facility studies to identify energy conservation opportunities and required system renewal projects.

MEP Development & Engineering

  • Perform calculations and simulations for system loads and performance analysis.
  • Coordinate with architects, vendors, and contractors to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Interact with our in-house construction and estimating team to develop, review and in some instances, iterate, on cost estimates and design concepts.

MEP Design

  • Assist in the design and development of MEP systems for various building projects.
  • Prepare and modify engineering documents, including drawings and specifications using Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Participate in the selection of equipment and materials for HVAC installations.
  • Resolve issues impacting budget, scope, and schedule by evaluating alternate schemes and value engineering options, as applicable.



REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited school.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer or on-track to getting licensed.
  • 3-7+ years of experience as a mechanical design engineer for building systems.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC principles.
  • Understanding of building codes, regulations, and industry standards related to HVAC, controls, and plumbing systems.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience with Bluebeam, CAD, and Revit.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • Familiarity with designing controls, electrical, and plumbing systems, in addition to mechanical systems.
  • Knowledge of energy-efficient technologies and how to design them to optimize system performance.
  • Project management skills for overseeing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting deadlines.
