Power Systems Engineer in Orange County
We have an immediate opportunity for an Electrical Engineer with an Electrical/Power emphasis. This position will conduct analyses, calculations and develop recommendations associated with the electrical system protection concepts.
Duties and Responsibilities
- protective relay calculation and determine appropriate relay set points.
- protective relay coordination studies utilizing short circuit modeling software.
- relay setting files utilizing relay vendor software.
- to produce relay coordination compliance reports for applicable NERC-PRC standards.
- SCADA point list.
- to produce communication setting for protective relays.
- to produce required client protective relay reports.
- Protection and Controls (P&C) support with scheme development and design reviews.
- to work independently on tasks as well as assist the senior engineers on larger projects.
- with other substation project engineers and technicians as needed.
- travel may be required.
Required Experience and Education
- degree required/Master s degree preferred in electrical engineering with an Electrical/Power emphasis.
- with electrical power system analysis, electrical system planning, protective device application, setting and substation design required / experience preferred.
- Engineer (PE) license.
- with power system analysis software: CAPE, ASPEN, ETAP along with CYME and SKM required / experience desired.
- computer skills, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office and electrical design software.
- verbal communication and writing skills.
- attention to detail, ability to take initiative and be self-motivated.
