Job Title: Electrical Panel Wirer / Panel Builder

Location: Elmhurst, IL

Duration: Contract to Hire

Our client, a National manufacturer of Electric and Pneumatic Control Panels, is looking to hire an Electrical Panel Wirer / Panel Builder for their team in Elmhurst, IL.


The Electrical Panel Wirer / Panel Builder will be responsible for:

  • Utilizing the Bill of Materials and drawings to identify and gather necessary components and supplies to complete project wiring. Notify Lead Wirer (if applicable), Shop Supervisor, or Project Manager of any missing items or supply (wire, cable, etc.) shortages.
  • Reading and understanding electrical schematics (ladder diagrams) and mechanical layouts. Possess a good understanding of electrical components.
  • Affix terminals and wiring to the panel as directed by project drawing, schematic, and customer-specific practices. Select appropriate wire gauges based on drawings, customer-specific practices, Client's standards, and component manufacturer and circuit requirements. Utilize hand tools, wire cutters, strippers, and other equipment as needed.
  • Utilizing the computer to make wire tags and terminal tags and affix them as directed by the project drawing. Adhere to the company's standards and customer-specific practices regarding tag design and location.
  • Identifying defective components and inconsistencies in drawings. Alert the Shop Supervisor promptly so that appropriate corrective action can be taken.
  • Arranging customer common stock in an orderly fashion. Utilizing materials as needed, and replacing excess materials at project completion.
  • Requesting a final review of the wiring and control panel by the Lead Wirer or the Shop Supervisor.
  • Removing markings, dust, and debris from the panel, and transporting the finished project to Quality Control.

Requirements:

  • High School Graduate or equivalent (GED) required;
  • 3-5 years in industrial, electrical control panel building preferred training available;
  • Demonstrated ability to read electrical schematics (ladder diagrams) and mechanical layouts;
  • Understand, remember, apply, and communicate oral and/or written instructions or information.
