SUMMARY OF POSITION


A Manufacturing Plant in Arizona is looking for an Assistant Plant Manager (Manufacturing).

The Assistant Plant Manager is responsible for the daily management and coordination of plant operations including production, pre-production, and operations. This is a hands-on position that is responsible for the development of policies and procedures designed to increase productivity, assure quality, and mitigate production problems. To this end, the Assistant Plant Manager will improve throughput and other in-house processes with the objective of reducing overall costs. The Assistant Plant Manager will provide direction to subordinate supervisors, leads and factory workers, offering professional expertise and monitoring performance to ensure that departmental and individual objectives are achieved within scheduled timelines and budgets. He or she will also be tasked with establishing and maintaining a safe, legally compliant workplace, and enforcing compliance with all corporate policies and procedures. Other duties might be assigned, as necessary.


Responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • This is a hands-on management role that will need to be comfortable spending large amounts of time on the factory floor spearheading production and communicating with factory teams.
  • Passionate leader of people, results driven and capable of connecting with team members at all levels of an organization.
  • Plan, organize, direct, and run day to day operations within the production side of the plant.
  • Set production schedule based on forecast and material availability with cross functional partners.
  • Responsible for documenting and effectively communicating production output and quality results daily.
  • Work closely with vendors on all business items, while staying within budgetary limits.
  • Responsible for uptime and maintenance on equipment
  • Managing KPI performance and driving excellence within each area
  • Drive business results based on safety, quality, delivery, while being cost effective.
  • Manage different production crew(s), activities, and resources to meet production goals.
  • Work well under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines.
  • Able to collaborate regularly with department heads; facilitate resolution of issues/problems between business units and/or departments.
  • Ensure that emergency as well as health and safety equipment is tested and replenished on a regular basis.
  • Continuous improvement and efforts to reduce expenses and increase productivity while monitoring material and labor costs.
  • Ability to delegate, set expectations and monitor progress of all direct reports.
  • Monitor third party business and suppliers to ensure that they are efficiently and effectively providing the needed services and supplies.
  • Establish and implement departmental policies, goals, objectives, and procedures, conferring with the executive members, management team and staff, as necessary.
  • Own the Quality Control process and continue to improve KPIs to measure employee job performance.
  • Ensure that all staff receives appropriate training on job duties, corporate policies, and applicable regulations.
  • Protect the organization's value by keeping information confidential.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and transparency.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite and technology savvy
  • Computer Literacy (Microsoft Office, ERP, etc.)
  • Business acumen in performance-based metrics
  • Ability to troubleshoot and issue resolutions.
  • Strong lead from the front type management style, utilized by working hand in hand with the crew.
  • Demonstrated Leadership in managing a group of 30+
  • Must be able to work independently and drive accountability.
  • Self motivated and self-driven with a strong attention to detail, organization, and time management
  • Build trust while challenging and maximizing the strength of the teams.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with company policy, procedures, and applicable regulations.


Summary of Experience and Education

  • Bachelor s Degree or equivalent four-year college or technical school and 5-7 or more years
  • related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5 years of proven managerial experience, plant and/or manufacturing preferred.
  • 5 + years of fabrication or relevant industry experience preferred.
  • Metal fabrication industry strongly preferred and/or experience within similar fields.
  • CPR Certification and Advanced First Aid *recommended.

Work Location: In-Person at the facility.
