DescriptionJob Title Shipping and Traffic Support Clerk (Materials Management Support 4) Location Los Alamos, NM, US Organization Name LOG-MM/Materials Management Minimum Salary 52400 Maximum Salary 80600 What You Will DoThe Logistics Materials Management (LOG-MM) Group is the central organization responsible for the logistics, distribution, transportation, traffic management, receiving and acceptance of all material goods between Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) and external customers. The Shipping Traffic team within LOG-MM supports LANL programs in logistics, transportation, and traffic management of all material goods. The Shipping and Traffic Support Clerk will work under the direct supervision of the Shipping Team Leader to support LANL Shipping and Traffic logistics. Responsibilities will include: operating forklifts of various capacities, operating material handling equipment, working with computer applications, communicating with customers, peers and various levels of management, coordinating and scheduling pick-ups of shipments with external vendors, packaging and preparing material for shipping, facilitating shipments from cradle to grave, preparing all documentation in compliance with regulations for shipments, assisting with various operational duties. The opportunity to progress to an Authorized Hazardous Materials Shipper may be available. What You Need Minimum Job Requirements: Experience with the logistical requirements and documentation of arranging and coordinating a shipment including small parcels (ex. FedEx), Less Than Truckload Shipments and Truckload Shipments. Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize and follow-through to completion multiple tasks, often under strict deadlines, frequent interruptions and changing priorities. Excellent interpersonal skills, including a commitment to teamwork, mentoring, and encouraging open communication skill. Excellent Customer Service Skills. Commitment to safety, security, environment, quality, and diversity in the workplace. Ability to comprehend and execute institutional policies and procedures. Ability to obtain forklift certification. Ability to obtain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance. Education/Experience: Position requires 5 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. At this level, additional training, certification, and/or education may be expected. Desired Qualifications: Experience or knowledge with Traffic/Shipping Operations at a D.O.E/NNSA contractor facilities. Experience in the logistical requirements of shipping materials through all modes of transportation including ground, air, and ocean. Experience with obtaining rate quotes. Familiarity with specific computer-based systems including Oracle, ATLAS, Federal Express, and other LANL/DOE based computer application systems. Knowledge of LANL programs, sites, and facilities. Experience operating material handling equipment. Active LANL forklift certification. Active Department of Energy "Q" clearance. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
