About This Role:
In the Principal Engineer role you will serve as a Construction Manager. Work involves managing complex road construction projects in the Capital Division. You will independently plan and complete construction assignments using a wide latitude of judgment in completing major road construction projects. You will oversee construction management of road transportation projects ensuring compliance with all County, VDOT, and Federal construction standards and specifications as required by the project.

HIRING BONUS:
You are eligible to receive a one-time cash signing bonus of $3,000. This bonus will be paid in two installments and is subject to all applicable tax withholding and reporting requirements. The first installment $1,500 is payable upon the County's first regular pay date following your position start date. The second $1,500 installment will be payable on the pay date following the completion of your probation period. Notwithstanding the preceding, you acknowledge and agree that if you separate from employment, you may no longer qualify for the remaining bonus amount that is unpaid. Employees are only eligible for the County's signing bonus once during their tenure with Prince William County.

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 3 years of related (management of construction projects) experience.

Preferences:
A graduate Engineer with a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field. The preferred candidate should have experience managing road and bridge construction projects as well as land development projects. Experience working with County, State, construction specifications and regulations. Experience managing utility and infrastructure type construction projects and the ability to work with multiple stakeholders to accomplish objectives.

Special Requirements:
Needs to safely operate a County vehicle.

Work Schedule:
7.5- hour workdays and some nights and weekends to align with the contractor's schedule.

Starting Salary Range:
$88,939.50 - $133,823.64
