Job Details

EHS Coordinator opening in Troy AL with a large manufacturing plant. Looking for someone who is sharp with the environmental aspect of EHS: storm water, wastewater, etc. Also looking for someone who is sharp with finding the root cause of accidents to help prevent it from happening in the future.

Day shift Mon-Fri: 6:30am-3pm


Job Description

Track metrics for assessing EH&S effectiveness, including the OSHA Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR), the OSHA Lost Worktime Case Rate (LWR).

Resolve environmental and safety issues by researching and selecting appropriate engineering controls and techniques. Communicate and coordinate actions to implement solutions. Review open issues and action items.

Understand and use Federal, State, and Local EHS regulations.

Conduct safety risk assessments. In addition, inspect and evaluate workplace environment, equipment, and practices to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations.

Develop, revise and maintains EHS training material. Provide necessary EHS training to employees and contractors. Maintain records and other related documentation in association with training.

Coordinate Industrial Hygiene (IH) sampling and analysis as required. Develop and maintain IH programs such as noise surveys, atmosphere testing and ventilation surveys. Communicate results to employees and management.

Collect storm water, wastewater and waste samples for laboratory analysis. Review sampling data for regulatory reporting and disposition of waste materials.

Conduct daily, quarterly, and annual EHS site inspections. Communicate results, corrective actions and status of open action plan.

Coordinate medical surveillance program to include; blood level screening, respiratory medical exams and fit tests, and required audiometric testing. Maintain records as required

Participate and review accident investigations with supervision to ensure root causes and corrective actions are developed and implemented to prevent similar accidents from happening in the future.

Provide assistance to contractors to inspect specified areas to ensure the presence of fire prevention equipment, safety equipment, and first-aid supplies are current and up-to-date.

Provide new-employee health and safety orientations, and update materials for these presentations as needed. Coordinate and perform training as required. Maintain training database.

Post injury work with HR to review available modified jobs to ensure compliance with employee s restrictions. On a daily basis ensure employee does not exceed injury restrictions.

Act as an EH&S technical resource as needed. Provide leadership for the site s EH&S programs.

Updates job knowledge by tracking and understanding emerging EHS technologies, practices and participating in seminars and workshops.
