Job Summary

The Buyer is primarily responsible for researching, selecting, and purchasing quality products and materials.

This position is full-time, on-site in Painesville, Ohio, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review, process and file all documents related to Purchase Orders.
  • Evaluate weekly material shortages.
  • Request samples and material specs for new and existing components and engineering builds.
  • Request new part numbers and enter related standard costs for these components into Macola.
  • Add/adjust locations, cost, descriptions, new vendors, etc. to Macola and ISO Xpress.
  • Source and compare price/delivery for new and existing components on the internet, email, phone or fax through authorized distributors and original manufacturer sites.
  • Expedite purchase orders and reschedule orders as required dates change.
  • Assist receiving with missing documents or other required documents required for incoming inspection/receipt.
  • Work closely with Accounting to resolve receipt issues, non-conformances, returns, debit memos, replacement parts and credit holds.
  • Notify vendors of non-conformances by providing documents for return or replacement of components, and obtaining corrective action reports to update ISO Xpress.
  • Interface with Engineering, Sales, Quality and Production to provide support and required documentation as needed.
  • Order inventory and non-inventory items for staff, production, engineering and maintenance.
  • Attend weekly production meetings.
  • Run open order reports as needed for vendors/materials/production.
  • Source and qualify new vendors and monitor current vendor performance.
  • Meet with vendor and manufacturer representatives to improve and maintain accounts and obtain information on new product offerings.
  • Interface and negotiate with vendors to maintain highest ethical standards in best interest of firm.
  • Research and make suggestions for increased efficiencies and job improvements based on industry standards and best practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering drawings, tests and specifications, technical journals or procedures, or equipment manuals.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals and effectively present information and respond to questions from managers or customers.
  • Ability to work with basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division and column concepts using Excel.
  • Ability to define problems, collect and input data accurately, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Required to stand, walk, sit, and type with hands and arms. Required to climb stairs.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • Team player and strong contributor to positive team culture.

Education & Experience
  • Minimum of Associate's degree (A.A. or A.S.) from two-year college or technical school.
  • Five (5) or more years of applicable experience in purchasing or retail environment.
  • General accounting skills required.
  • Minimum of three years working with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Power Point).
  • Macola or ISO Xpress experience a plus.
