**Description**

The Capital Area Division (CAD) of Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) has an outstanding opportunity for an exceptional **Ballistic Missile Analyst** with experience identifying, characterizing, and assessing global ballistic missile proliferation and procurement trends. This position routinely provides defense planners and operators with timely and accurate characterizations of adversary missile threats, WMD programs, and weapons-related S&T developments. This right candidate will generate recommendations in the form of technical briefings, reports, and other analytic documents. The position also devises, evaluates, and recommends new methodologies and analytical tools that are under development. This candidate will also collaborate with the Intelligence Community, Defense Department, national labs, and academia to address missile-related threat issues. As a Ballistic Missile Analyst, you provide guidance to less experienced staff, reviews the work of others, authoritatively contributes to multi-functional analytic teams, and maintains currency in understanding relevant missile technologies, trends, and procedures.

**Required Qualifications:**

+ BS or BA degree in political science, international relations, or related field

+ 7+ years of experience with intelligence analysis, including employing multi-INT databases to develop analytic assessments and briefings

+ Demonstrated knowledge of ballistic missile programs, trends, and technologies, missile defense developments, WMD, and/or counterproliferation

+ Practical understanding of the technical requirements both established and improvised required to improve ballistic missile capabilities

+ A working familiarity with global missile defense-related programs, technologies, and initiatives

+ Understanding of global technology control, arms-control, and nonproliferation efforts associated with ballistic missiles (MTCR, New START)

+ Experience characterizing and assessing technical improvements related to other advanced weapons systems, including cruise missiles, UAVs, and long-range rockets

+ Demonstrated proficiency utilizing S&T and academic databases

+ Demonstrated ability to work effectively within or lead a team of peers, as well as excellent interpersonal and communications skills

+ Ability to communicate complex analyses at a level comprehensible to laymen and senior-level government representatives

+ Ability to clearly express in writing technical analysis results and program characterizations

+ Must be a US Citizen

+ Active TS clearance with SCI eligibility

**Desired Qualifications:**

+ Graduate level or advanced degree in political science, international relations, or related field

+ Military or defense-related experience and an understanding of operational planning and WMD pathway defeat

+ Experience effectively devising, utilizing, and communicating methodological approaches to complex problem sets

+ Familiarity working with ballistic missile and S&T analytic centers within the IC and/or DOD (MSIC, NASIC, MDA)

+ Familiarity with DTRA and its support to DoD, Services, and Combatant Commands
