We are currently seeking an experienced Field Mechanic to join our Equipment team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing equipment issues, as well as performing preventative maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performance. As a key member of our Equipment division, the Field Mechanic will collaborate closely with other departments and stakeholders to ensure the efficient and effective use of company resources.

Your Role: Ensuring Equipment Reliability

As a Field Mechanic at Emery Sapp & Sons, your role is essential in maintaining the reliability and functionality of our equipment fleet. From diagnosing and troubleshooting equipment issues to performing preventative maintenance, your technical expertise will contribute to the smooth operation of our construction projects. Collaboration with vendors and equipment manufacturers, along with a commitment to process improvement, will be key aspects of your role.

Responsibilities

  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform maintenance and repair work on company equipment, including heavy equipment, trucks, and trailers, to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Diagnosis and Troubleshooting: Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment issues, developing effective solutions to resolve them promptly and minimize downtime.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Perform preventative maintenance to proactively address potential equipment issues and minimize the risk of unexpected failures.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all equipment-related activities are carried out in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, maintaining safety and adherence to standards.
  • Vendor Management: Manage relationships with vendors and equipment manufacturers, negotiating contracts and resolving issues in a timely manner to support equipment needs.
  • Reporting and Communication: Develop and maintain equipment-related reports and metrics, effectively communicating equipment-related information to stakeholders.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements in equipment maintenance and repair, enhancing efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in equipment maintenance and repair, preferably in a construction setting.
  • CDL is preferred, if you don't currently hold one, you'd have to be willing to obtain one upon hire through the CDL program at Emery Sapp & Sons
  • Strong technical skills, with the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex equipment issues effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences, including vendors, colleagues, and management.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to prioritize tasks effectively and manage workload efficiently.
  • Experience using equipment maintenance or repair software is preferred.
