[Parish Name] in [Location] Maryland is looking for a highly qualified Preschool Assistant Teacher to work with our 3- and 4-year-olds in our preschool program. The qualified applicant will be an active part of the child's first school experience. The Preschool Assistant Teacher must have great love for and patience with children. Qualifications needed to teach them effectively include knowledge of best practices and preschool educational methods as well as the ability to engage them and earn their trust and attention, all the while understanding where they are in their growth and development.

The goal is to contribute to the healthy mental and emotional development of the child so they can more easily acclimate to the next level of education.

Essential Functions:

  • Work with a team to develop and implement a careful and creative academic program suitable for preschool children, including opportunities for learning in whole group, small group, one-on-one learning, etc. both inside and outside the classroom
  • Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem
  • Assist with rest and meal times and continually supervise children to ensure they are safe at all times
  • Facilitate children's interactions and resolve difficulties through guidance using the school's model of positive discipline
  • Foster a love of learning through a balance of academics, arts, gross motor play, fine motor development, spiritual development and more
  • Model a spirit of flexibility, patience, and understanding
  • Assist with student evaluations and observations that are used to develop curriculum activities
  • Continue professional development via local and online trainings


Position Qualifications:

  • A minimum of years of proven experience as a Preschool Assistant Teacher.
  • Minimum: AA in Early Childhood Education or relevant field OR 90 hours Childcare Certification or CDA Credential
  • Required trainings: Medication Administration, Basic Health and Safety, Including All Children and the ADA, COVID Training,
  • Emergency Preparedness Training, Center Aide Orientation
  • Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and preschool educational methods.
  • Current certification in CPR and First Aide
  • Must meet the health and physical requirements outlined by the Maryland Department of Education Office of Childcare
