Kelly Services is currently hiring a Production Scheduler / Material Planner for a 4-month contract at Thermo Fisher in Asheville, NC. The Production Scheduler / Material Planner will be responsible for planning and scheduling all aspects of production by leading projects and making important inventory-based decisions.
Salary/Pay Rate/Compensation:
Shift:
- Monday thru Friday - 7am-4pm (Flexible)
- Incredibly rare "on-call" shifts on Saturday's.
As the Material Planner / Scheduler your responsibilities include:
- Responsible for key performance indicators such as on-time delivery, maintaining Safety Stock levels of products and internal raw material shortages levels.
- Assists with timely and accurate planning of material requirements to support MPS (Master Production Schedule).
- Recalculate orders and requirements as needed by analyzing trends in demand, changes in lead time, minimum order quantities, standard batch sizes and safety stock levels.
- Provides input to management to reschedule in case of design changes, labor and material shortages, backlogs, and other potential schedule interruptions.
- Follow up on open orders and partial shipments, expedite as required.
- Review Open Purchase for orders due for Surplus Trading requirements. Report incoming purchases to client manager for inventory forecasting.
- Partner effectively with external departments to resolve issues.
- Attend Weekly Team Meetings with managers, planners and parts buyers.
- Collaborate in a professional manner with all areas of the business, including internal and external suppliers and customers.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Bachelor's Degree or 5+ years of relevant experience
- 2+ years of experience in a Manufacturing / Assembly Planning role.
- Knowledge of ERP systems, SAP Preferred.
- Proficient in Excel - must know how to create and navigate pivot tables.
- Must be able to prioritize workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
- Must be highly organized and able to work independently.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for preparing and presenting planning reports and projects.
- APICS certified in Planning & Inventory Management preferred.
- Medical Device Manufacturing experience preferred.
- Six Sigma Certification a plus.
