**GENERAL DEFINITION****:** The purpose of the position is to perform custodial work to meet all safety and health standards for infection control. Responsibilities included but not limited to performing sanitation responsibilities such as cleaning, disinfection, and preparation of clinical areas and furniture.**DUTIES****:****Performs other duties as assigned.** **CUSTODIAN**

**SALARY: $9.92**

**SUPERVISION RECEIVED****:** Work is performed under the general supervision of the Division Director.

**SUPERVISON EXERCISED****:** None.

**Perform daily cleaning of designated room, offices, clinical areas, lobbies, conference room, and restrooms, in a clean, neat and sanitary manner in accordance to OSHA standards.**

* Routinely cleans and disinfect patient triage areas, exam rooms, laboratory areas to ensure that all areas are disinfected, sanitized or decontaminated.

* Routinely cleans and disinfects floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, stripping, waxing in all offices and clinical areas.

* Routinely cleans and maintains front offices and training room by vacuuming and deep cleaning.

* Routinely inspects all exam rooms, offices, break areas, hallways, storage areas and/or all physical locations within the facility to ensure areas are clean.

* Routinely cleans all tables, counters, window sills, light fixtures, and vents by dusting, wiping and vacuuming.

* Services, cleans, and supplies restrooms including cleaning and sanitizing sinks, urinals and toilets, replenish toilet paper, paper towels and hand soap.

* Maintains cleaning supplies, cleaning agents and stores all hazardous materials and solvents in a temperature-controlled area.

+ Enters new chemicals into the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) to ensure protective measures and safety precautions for handling, storing and transporting of chemicals with appropriate staff.

+ Create and maintain supplies inventory logs to ensure availability of supplies.

+ Maintain a clean and organized storage areas for cleaning equipment and supplies.

* Maintain and clean cleaning tools and equipment to keep them in a safe, usable condition, that extends productivity.

* Utilize cleaning compounds and equipment to prevent the spread of infectious diseases and control allergens.

**Maintains buildings and the surrounding areas.**

* Ensure that all snow, ice, debris are removed, as needed.

* Maintains the landscape within the boundaries of the facilities.

* Cleans Sally Port, Adult and Juvenile recreation yards.

* Performs minor carpentry, electrical, plumbing repairs, as needed.

* Check light bulbs, light fixtures, battery operated fixtures.

* Maintains all work spaces, storage areas in a clean and uncluttered condition.

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**

**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES****:** Knowledge on infectious diseases and proper cleaning and sanitation procedures. Knowledge on biohazardous waste and proper disposal of biohazard waste and materials. Skilled and ability to read and understand material safety data sheets and instructions for mixing and use of cleaning chemicals, and able to fill out chemical identification stickers. Skilled to performed basic mathematical calculations to mix cleaning agents appropriately in accordance with the prescription of the manufacture. Ability to safely use equipment and cleaning supplies. Ability to read and comprehend cleaning and/or chemical labels and adhere to recommended mixing of the chemical. Ability to perform minor maintenance and cleaning of buildings, grounds and equipment. Ability communicate effectively orally and written. Ability to maintain simple inventory records. Ability to follow verbal and written directions and instructions. Ability to work with minimal supervision.

**TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE****:** High School diploma; with three (3) years of clinical custodian or janitorial work experience. Must obtain a Standard First Aid and CPR Certification within six (6) months of employment.

**LICENSE & CERTIFICATES****:** Valid New Mexico Drivers License with no DWI/DUI convictions within the past three (3) years. **Driving is an essential part of the duties.**

**PHYSICAL DEMANDS****:** The position required moderate physical exertion such as long periods of standing, repetitively lifting lightweight objects with frequent bending or stooping, recurring lifting of moderately heavy items. Occasionally lift heavy objects (over 50 pounds). The position requires average agility and dexterity. Regular exposure to unfavorable environments such as weather, body fluids, toxic laboratory and industrial chemicals, or confined, dirty and noisy location. Employees may be required to use personal protective equipment such as masks, coats, gowns, boots, goggles, gloves, or shields.

**SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS****:** Must have no criminal or domestic violence convictions. Must be alcohol and drug-free. Position is subject to Pre-Employment drug testing. Position is Safety Sensitive and will be subject to random drug screening for duration of employment. Must undergo and pass a thorough background check including FBI Fingerprints.
