Deadline: Weekend Editor (Part time)


Job Details

Deadline is hiring a seasoned desk editor with Hollywood and media journalism experience to help anchor our weekend coverage. TheWeekend Editorwill be tasked with writing and editing duties along with keeping the site current with all Hollywood trade and media industry breaking news. The ideal candidate must have strong writing, news judgment and newsgathering skills in a digital world who knows what stories belong in Deadline's news mix.

Responsibilities:

  • This person will also be responsible for working with our A-list team of reporters and editing their copy on the site; writing assigned stories or finding and writing stories fit for the site; and curating Deadline's homepage.


Qualifications:

  • Must be proficient in digital journalism, competent in using social media for finding news, and be willing to roll up your sleeves to help a tight-knit team.
  • Familiarity with the entertainment industry


Part time work schedule:

  • Saturday - Sunday (10am - 6pm PT) + one four-hour evening shift a week.


Typical wage range: $30k - $40k. Factors that could be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, years of experience and comparison to current employees already in this role. The typical candidate is hired below midpoint of the range.

If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors).
