**Description**Applied Research Associates, Inc. is seeking a summer intern to assist senior staff with research and analysis. ARA scientists are developing mathematical models for the transport of radiation, radiation detector response, blast/overpressure effects, biological and physical effects of ionizing radiation, and other phenomenology associated with nuclear and radiological weapons and chemical and biological agents.As an Intern, you will assist senior staff with data gathering and analysis, along with other tasks. You will perform data entry, database management and routine types of data analysis. Tasks may include: review of professional journals and publications to extract and summarize information relevant to assigned research projects; research using internet-based search techniques, informational resources, and other available research tools. As an intern, you will have the chance to learn through close interactions with senior research scientists that will provide you with opportunities for technical exploration. You may also be required to occasionally assist with routine office tasks, such as ordering supplies, printing/binding reports, and maintaining internal library resources.**REQUIRED SKILLS and EXPERIENCE:**+ GPA of 3.0 or greater (out of a 4.0)+ Advanced classes in physical science and mathematics+ The candidate must be able to work independently and must have good oral and written communication skills.+ Per contractual requirements, the candidate must be a U.S. citizen.+ Submit a letter stating what you hope to learn/gain from the internship.+ Submit a high school transcript (unofficial is acceptable).**DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:**+ Completion of a physics course+ Ability to perform statistical analysis and utilize common statistical analysis software packages.Equal Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with DisabilitiesThe contractor will not discharge or in any other manner discriminate against employees or applicants because they have inquired about, discussed, or disclosed their own pay or the pay of another employee or applicant.
