Job Description:SUMMARY:The Lead Biomedical Engineer will design and conduct all aspects of research and provide scientific input into the research process in the field of low-level blast environment characterization. Provides support and technical expertise, assists in the development of research protocols, technical procedures, directing study staff, collecting data, and conducting analyses.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Lead and/or assist research team in executing the research protocol or test plan, including, but not limited to, development of the research or test methodology, data collection, data analysis, and reporting the findings.Conduct data analysis using engineering software and computer programming.Approach novel analytical problems with effective and appropriate solutions.Prepare briefings, technical reports, and manuscripts for publication in professional journals.Apply excellent critical thinking, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills.Maintain regular and punctual attendance.Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:May provide peer-to-peer leadership and direction during activities in their area of responsibility.

Job Requirements:MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor s degree (master s preferred) mathematics, physics, statistics, computer science, biomedical engineering, engineering, or related field or relevant work experience.Advanced programming skills in SAS, MATLAB, C, C+, C++, Java, VBA.Must be able to obtain HSPD-12 clearance (US Citizenship Required).Must obtain and maintain any necessary security access and/or background checks.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:Military experience is a plus.Experience in a blast research setting actively involved in study design, or equivalent experience a plus.Demonstrates ability to prioritize, organize, problem-solve, and coordinate daily activities to support effective improvement in individual patients.Have strong leadership/management skills and be responsible for directing and guiding research staff and study participants.Demonstrates knowledge, skill, and ability to use basic office automation and information management equipment and programs (i.e., word processing, database management, email, etc.).Communicate in a diplomatic and professional manner with research staff and study participants.Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization.Excellent written communication skills to perform accurate documentation, both written and electronic, of all activity in accordance with requirements.

TRAVEL:Travel to various research sites within and outside of the United States. Valid passport required.

DRIVING REQUIREMENTS:Must have or be able to attain a valid state driver s license and be insurable on the company s automobile insurance policy.

Driving, with or without accommodation, may be required when traveling for training and/or short occasional amounts of local driving. The expected driving time is less than 25%.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Be capable of lifting and moving of equipment weighting up to 30 pounds and withstand prolonged periods of bending, reaching, moving about, or standing. Moderate to extended periods of office work with heavy periods of computer usage. May be assigned occasional to moderate periods of analytical tasks requiring extensive reasoning abilities. WORK ENVIRONMENT:Work is performed primarily in a clinic setting. Employee will be exposed to a wide variety of clients in differing functions, personalities and abilities.
