LOCATION: Hybrid; In-person at 200 Massachusetts Avenue NW, Washington D.C.

SCHEDULE: Tuesday and Wednesday (16 hrs/week)

DURATION: May-August 2024

Responsibilities

Possible Projects:

Operations

  • Serve BGCA-hosted Washington, DC located events led by the Resource Development divisions of Events and Corporate Cause Partnership, as well as the Government Relations division.
  • Support the Manager, Administration and Special Projects with managerial projects that will enhance the overall RD/GR team experience.
  • Assist the Manager, Administration and Special Projects with booking official travel and processing reimbursements.
  • Project manage the day-to-day Washington D.C. office operations, and assist in hosting top BGCA executives in the D.C. office.
  • Contribute to the slide decks produced for the Chief Development & Public Affairs Officer for the monthly Resource Development Department Meetings, as well as Resource Development & Government Relations Quarterly Department Meetings.
  • Process the Chief Development and Public Affairs Officer s Executive Agreement Letters to be distributed to major donors.
  • Handle ICARE Awards for BGCA team members on a quarterly basis to contribute to furthering team morale.
  • Support the Resource Development leadership team in preparation for the upcoming Board of Governors Meetings.

Other

  • Receive mentoring and shadowing opportunities, as well as formal feedback.
  • Demonstrate BGCA ICARE values and integrate them into your work environment, model them in the way that you work, and uphold those same values in others.
  • Assist the Resource Development and Government Relations team with special projects as assigned.
  • Adhere to organizational policies and procedures as described in BGCA's Intern Policy, Ethics Policy and elsewhere.
Qualifications

Education

Currently enrolled at an undergraduate university or college. Basic knowledge of American government. Interest in not-for-profit and youth development. Interest in corporate fundraising.

Experience

Experience using Microsoft Office suite, including Word and Excel. A track record of reliability, independent work, and creativity.

Skills

Self-motivation and ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Eagerness to learn. Strong interest in project management in not-for-profit environments. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to manage time appropriately. Ability to interact professionally with Congressional staffers, BGCA senior leadership, local Club leaders, and government officials. Applicants should demonstrate interest in Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Professional or business work casual environment.
