KLH Enterprises is a dedicated team of construction professionals servicing our clients and community by building safely with integrity, innovation, and quality. KLH Enterprises is currently seeking a dynamic and driven individual with experience in concrete to join their team. We specialize in concrete construction in Delaware, Maryland and Virginia. The position will be based around the tri-state area reporting to the Delaware office. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and have experience in concrete construction, including all aspects of commercial, industrial, municipal, and residential construction.

Duties/Responsibilities Include:

Crew Lead

- Assist the Concrete Foreman in engaging field crew daily preparation processes.

- Understand project information and be able to identify obstacles and opportunities for our phase of work.

- Understand production goals for each task and manages to achieve them.

- Help to prepare crew to execute work as planned and scheduled.

- Ensure the crew has staged equipment, materials, and tools for optimal output.

- Assist the Concrete Foreman for ensuring project execution goals are met for their portion of work.

- Communicate project status in a timely and accurate manner to all appropriate parties.

- Will assist the Concrete Foreman in their absence and take on additional responsibilities as needed when required.

- Assist in building and positioning forms for pouring concrete and dismantles forms after use, using saws, hammers, nails, bolts or form hardware.

- Dig ditches and levels earth to grade specifications, using equipment, pick, shovels and rakes.

- Grade dirt and concrete efficiently and accurately.

- Erect and disassemble scaffolding, shoring, braces, and other temporary structures.

- Construct forms, then assist in raising them to the required elevation.

- Install and tie rebar and wire mesh.

- Install handrailing.

- Load and unload trucks and automobiles.

- Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment, such as gas, oil, water, tires, lights, and brakes to ensure that vehicles are in proper working condition.

- Haul and hoist materials.

- Report any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles and/or equipment and immediately notify supervisor.

- Check fluid levels in all equipment and vehicles.

- Lubricate and clean machinery, equipment, and tools.

- Use power sprayers and/or washer.

- Keep jobsite, trucks, and equipment clean.

- Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials.

- Grind, scrape, sand, or polish surfaces, such as concrete surfaces for cleaning or finishing, using abrasive tools or machines.

- Cut lumber to specified dimensions, and drill holes in lumber.

- Hold plumb bobs, sighting rods, and other equipment, to aid in establishing reference points and lines.

- Apply hardening and sealing compounds to cure surface of concrete, and surface retardants when required.

- Apply curing compounds or curing systems to finished concrete.

- Chip, scrape, and grind high spots, ridges, and rough projections to finish concrete, using pneumatic chisels, power grinders, or hand tools.

- Clean chipped area, using wire brush, and feel and observe surface to determine if it is rough or uneven.

- Mix cement, concrete, mortar and various patching compounds.

- Understand the specific use for specified cement, mortar and various patching compounds.

- Install all types of joints, i.e. expansion, construction & contraction.

- Set the forms that hold concrete to the desired pitch and depth and align them.

- Check the forms that hold concrete to the desired pitch and depth and align them.

- Spread, level, and smooth concrete, using rake, shovel, hand or power trowel, hand or power screed, and float.

- Build wooden molds, and clamp molds around area to be repaired using hand tools.

- Cut out damaged areas, drill holes for reinforcing rods, and position reinforcing rods to repair concrete, using power saw and drill.

- Signal truck driver to position truck to facilitate pouring concrete and move chute to direct concrete on forms.

- Operate power vibrator to consolidate concrete.

- Measure and mark cutting lines on materials, using ruler, pencil, chalk, and tape measure.

- Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment.

- Verify trueness of structure, using plumb bob and level

- Shape or cut materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saw.

- Assemble and fasten materials to make framework or props, using hand tools and wood screws, nails, dowel pins, or glue.

- Monitor how the wind, heat, or cold affect the curing of the concrete throughout the entire progress.

- Wet surface to prepare for bonding, fill holes and cracks with grout or slurry, and smooth, using trowel.

- Install anchor bolts, steel plates, door sills and other fixtures in freshly placed concrete.

- Produce project required concrete surface, using broom, hand floats and trowels, power trowels, stamps.

- Direct the casting of the concrete and supervise laborers who use shovels or special tools to spread it.

- Determine elevations from blueprints (tenths & inches above sea level in relationship to benchmark.

- Set elevations, design and install concrete proper fall.

- Understand how to figure quantity of concrete needed.

- Read and understand blueprints.

- Report any unsafe work practices or safety hazards encountered on the job to the Foreman.

- May be required to perform tasks from other job descriptions depending on available work and schedules, i.e. wall/foundation building as form setter, earthwork, etc.

Required Skills/Abilities:

- Must possess the ability to communicate effectively using the Spanish and English languages.

- Must possess a valid driver s license and be able to pass a DOT medical exam.

- Display the ability to make intelligent and quick decisions.

- Works well under pressure when faced with strict deadlines or unexpected delays.

- Remains flexible and efficient in a fast-paced environment.

- Must possess the ability to operate a power trowel to produce specified finishes.

- Possess the ability to effectively multitask while analyzing and solving problems.

- Use mathematics to solve problems.

- Complete understanding of OSHA and company safety requirements

- Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times. Comprehends and listens efficiently.

- Employee must posses the ability to drive a work truck to and from jobsites with or without coworkers.

Education and Experience:

- At least 7 years of commercial/Industrial concrete construction experience as a Crew leader, Assistant Crew leader, Forman, or equivalent role.

- Highschool diploma or equivalent preferred.

Physical Requirements:

- Employee is required to regularly lift, carry, push, and pull materials and tools up to 100 lbs.

- Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of jobsites, in all weather. This may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, kneeling, crawling, or stretching.

- Must be able to work safely in noisy areas.

- Must have enough vision to inspect new work areas and areas of repair.

- Dexterity and accuracy as need to operate equipment and/or tools.

Work Environment:

- Work is accomplished primarily outdoors, occasionally indoors, and in all types of weather conditions/environments.

- The employee will be exposed to and working near moving mechanical parts and equipment.

- Constant and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.

- May require travel.

- Weekend, holiday and overnight hours may be required.

Job Type: Full Time Year Round

Schedule: Monday to Friday, Some Weekends, Occasional Holidays

KLH offers a competitive salary ranging from $65,000 - $90,000 per year, depending upon experience. The right candidate who qualifies will become eligible for a take home vehicle for company use and gas card. KLH offers paid time off and yearly bonuses based on performance and company growth.
