Position Information

UC Riverside's Center for Early Childhood Education is recruiting for a part-time Classroom Assistant. *This job posting is for a part-time career position, which is scheduled 20 hours per week. The full salary range for the Classroom Assistant is $20.38 - $23.34 per hour. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.

Under the general supervision of the Center for Early Childhood Education (CECE) Executive Director, Site Supervisor, and the close supervision of the classroom Lead Teacher, the Classroom Assistant will provide assistance to ensure the smooth function of daily routines, implementation of the early care and education programs, and ensure compliance with mandated adult: child ratios. Works as part of the Early Childhood Services teaching team.

Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.

Education

Education Requirements
  • 6 units of Early Childhood Education. (Required)
  • Associate's degree in early childhood education. (Preferred)
Certification Requirements
  • Associate Teacher Permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. (Preferred)


Experience Requirements
  • Minimum of 1 year experience working in a licensed child development center. (Required)


Minimum Requirements

Knowledge of appropriate health and safety standards for toileting, food handling and hand washing. Skill to maintain confidentiality at all times. Skill to communicate effectively with children, staff and parents. Physical ability to lift and carry children up to 30 pounds, frequently and as necessary. Knowledge of National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Developmentally Appropriate Practices. Knowledge of current philosophies and research in early care and education, Pre-K Guidelines, and Early Literacy. Skills to take direction in meeting children's needs, classroom needs and parent needs.



Preferred Qualifications

Ability to perform CPR/First Aid on children who have been injured and may be unable to stand up and/or walk.
