Position Summary

Expanding our global reach comes down to having state-of-the-art bases wherever we re needed. It s the responsibility of Pavements and Construction Equipment personnel to maintain these facilities and build runways and airfields in remote locations. They do everything from operating large-scale construction equipment to detonating explosives to creating and caring for our facilities around the world.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain heavy construction equipment.
  • Construct and inspect concrete and asphalt runways, aircraft parking aprons, and roads.
  • Schedule and coordinate equipment repair and servicing.
  • Inspect work to ensure quality and compliance with policies.
  • Design demolition projects, place and detonate explosives.

  • Non-prior Service enlistment bonus of up to $15,000 with a six-year contract and paid incrementally over six years (dependent on member meeting all eligibility requirements based on IAW Air Force policy and law)
  • Prior Service bonus of up $15,000 for six-year enlistment paid over six years or $7,500 for a three-year contract paid over three years (dependent on member meeting all eligibility requirements based on IAW Air Force policy and law)

Qualifications

  • A high school senior (age 17 or older)*, high school diploma, a GED or 15 college semester hours
  • 40 Mechanical (M) score on the ASVAB
  • Knowledge of characteristics and capabilities of equipment used in construction and paving
  • Normal color vision
  • Possession of a valid state driver s license to operate government motor vehicles
  • Completion of 7.5 weeks of Basic Military Training
  • Must be between the ages of 17 and 42

*High school students may start their application as early as the end of their junior year.
