Direct Care Staff - 7am-3pm Full -Time /every other weekend required

Purpose of your job position

The Direct Care Staff is responsible for providing personal care, guidance, and support to male and female clients specific to clients needs. The Direct Care Staff will perform all of their duties in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations governing the location(s) they are working. Direct Care Staff must also, follow all policies and procedures that apply to the performance and duties of their job. This position is responsible for administering client programs & goals, and ensuring the client's personal needs are satisfied in a safe manner.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implements and Follows client's plan of care
  • Ensure completion of all activities of daily living (ADL's) for individuals supported
  • Provide physical, emotional behavioral and social supports to individuals supported.
  • Provides physical assistance to male and female clients, including but not limited to: sitting down/standing up, walking, transferring, laying down, personal cares, toileting, bathing, dressing, grooming and/or other required daily living requirements according to the individual's care plans.
  • Follow and implement approved behavioral programs and de-escalation techniques.
  • Maintains supervision of clients in accordance with client's supervision requirements/plans
  • Prepares or assist clients in preparing and consuming nutritional/ well-balanced meals, snacks, and beverages according to menus, special diets, or as instructed. Having an understanding of meal preparation including ingredients, measuring sizes and following a recipe.
  • Follow and implement client's programs and goals accurately and promptly as scheduled
  • Maintains Medication administration certification upon hire and annually thereafter
  • Follows and administers medications to clients according to medication administration guidelines, procedures, and physician's orders.
  • Documents, charts, and tracks client information as required in applicable and respective areas.
  • Cleans and completes household tasks according to expected standards
  • Promptly reports and maintenance related issues to direct supervisor
  • Assists other employees, including supervisor, as needed or requested
  • Conducts fire, storm and other required drills
  • Participate in client activities within the site or the community while completing other job responsibilities that may apply
  • Drives company assigned vehicles to transport clients to and from events, appointments, and other activities. Must abide by organizations driving policies, procedures and state driving laws.
  • Provides assistance to clients money transactions and management according to the clients financial plans and authorizations.
  • Immediately responds and addresses emergency situations in accordance with the organization's policies, procedures or best practices.
  • Know and understand basic first aid
  • Provide safe & healthy direction, answering questions and acting in a professional manner at all times.
  • Use time management skills effectively and in the best interests of the individual supported.
  • Accurately and properly record time worked. Notifying direct supervisor of any changes that need to be made to time punches/card.
  • Be flexible in work schedule, understand that schedules may change from week to week to meet the needs of the individuals being supported.
  • Attends all scheduled shifts, trainings, meetings and events
  • Professionally represent the organization and home/site to current employees, Case Managers, guests, vendors and members of the community.
  • Perform any other duties assigned to him/her by his/her supervisor and assume other duties and responsibilities outlines herein, but which are logically and properly those inherent to the function of the job, and/or defined or delineated on other procedures.


Requirements

Physical and Sensory Requirements:

  • Must be able to move frequently throughout the workday
  • Must be able to speak, write and read the English language in an understandable manner
  • Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position
  • Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
  • Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel and support agencies.
  • Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of the company.
  • Must be able to relate to and work with a variety of disabilities and illnesses some of which may present a potential hazard to the worker.
  • Must be able to push, pull, move and/or carry a minimum of eighty (80) pounds a minimum distance of ten (10) feet.
