Refrigeration Mechanic
Position Summary/ Objectives
The Refrigeration Mechanic will be responsible to perform maintenance and repairs to manufacturing and facility equipment to support business and production needs. The successful candidate will be a motivated self-starter who is willing to learn.
Education/License/Certification
- driver s license
- EPA 608 certification
- from HVAC technical institute or school preferred but not required
Essential Job Functions:
- repair, modify, maintain and install HVAC and refrigeration equipment and their controls
- field service and regular preventative maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration equipment
- and solder pipes and refrigeration lines to repair or install components
- and diagnose mechanical and electrical issues in HVAC and refrigeration systems
- skilled electrical maintenance work in the repair, installation and alteration of HVAC equipment, components, timers, motors and wiring systems as needed; connect motors to control panels
- compliance with safety regulations and company policies
- may work indoors or outdoors, alone or with a team
- for work in 3 facilities in North Bergen area
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 10-15 years experience working in the HVAC/refrigeration field
- Excellent mechanical knowledge and understanding of all types of HVAC and refrigeration systems and equipment
- Great mechanical skills and ability to use manual and electrical tools and equipment applicable to the HVAC and refrigeration trade
- Brazing and soldering skills
- Experience with boilers
- Ability to work from blueprints, drawings and schematics in constructing and repairing equipment.
- Skilled in diagnosing, using testing devices and repairing HVAC and refrigeration equipment
- Computer tablet experience and basic record-keeping techniques
- Excellent problem-solving and customer service skills with attention to detail
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and follow and understand oral and written instructions
- Ability to work cooperatively with others, work independently with little direction and meet schedules and deadlines
Physical Demands
- to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions
- to climb ladders and endure climbing, kneeling, balancing, bending, walking, squatting, crawling and prolonged standing and sitting. Must be physically able to lift 50+ pounds
