Real Talk Group, a leading talent acquisition consultancy, is currently recruiting for an Assistant Project Manager (Civil/Structural) position in San Leandro, CA on behalf of our client, a reputable construction company. We are seeking a skilled professional to join their team and assist in the successful management of civil and structural projects.

Assistant Project Manager (Civil/Structural) Location: San Leandro, CA

Overview: The Assistant Project Manager (Civil/Structural) will be responsible for managing a single project contract, ensuring compliance with owner expectations, contract specifications, and industry standards. This role requires overseeing all aspects of the project, including construction, budget management, and personnel coordination.

What you will be doing:

  • Manage all aspects of the assigned project, including construction, budget, and cash management, to ensure compliance with the project contract and owner requirements.
  • Develop and manage the project schedule, pay estimates, project procedures, staffing requirements, and equipment resources needed to achieve accurate and timely project production.
  • Assess the initial project contract and supporting documents for completeness, working with the owner to resolve any specification, contract, or scheduling issues.
  • Coordinate with project personnel to accurately update the project construction schedule and make adjustments for any change orders. Collaborate with the Area Manager to coordinate change orders related to production cost or schedule.
  • Create and present monthly cost and revenue forecasts and reports to the leadership team.
  • Perform additional assignments as directed by management.
  • Develop internal and external working relationships with supporting departments and the project owner to support the project work plan and payment schedule.
  • Review and approve all internal and external media news releases related to the project.
  • Act as the main point of contact for all third-party stakeholders, including landowners, local business owners, and government agencies involved in the project.
  • Facilitate project safety reviews and procedures by conducting daily and weekly safety checks at the project site to ensure compliance with project and owner safety programs.
  • Coordinate with the project superintendent to identify staffing and equipment needs for efficient and effective project production.
  • Collaborate with internal legal counsel to resolve any project disputes.
  • Lead project closeout procedures, finalize contract paperwork, obtain retainages, and work with management to resolve any project claims. Conduct a project debrief cycle to review all aspects of project work and completion.
  • Maintain knowledge of the company's values and strategic plan.
What we are looking for:
  • 5+ years of experience in construction, engineering, or scheduling.
  • Experience in managing personnel is required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field is a plus.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Strong interpersonal skills developed to build and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Well-developed skill in identifying, tracking, and managing project risks.
  • Developing ability to delegate task-driven responsibilities to project personnel.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office, including advanced Excel skills.

Salary:
  • Minimum: USD $145,000.00 per year.
  • Maximum: USD $160,000.00 per year.
