Construction Estimator


Job Details

Job Summary: As a construction estimator, you will be responsible for accurately estimating the costs involved in construction projects. You will work closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to analyze project specifications, blueprints, and other documentation to determine the materials, labor, and equipment required for each project. Your expertise will ensure that projects are financially viable, completed within budget, and meet quality standards.


Responsibilities:

  1. Project Evaluation: Review project plans, specifications, and other documentation to understand project requirements.
  2. Cost Estimation: Calculate the costs of materials, labor, equipment, and other expenses associated with construction projects.
  3. Quantity Takeoff: Measure and quantify materials needed for each project based on architectural drawings and specifications.
  4. Vendor and Subcontractor Relations: Obtain quotes from suppliers and subcontractors for materials and services required for construction projects.
  5. Cost Analysis: Analyze cost factors and recommend cost-saving measures without compromising quality.
  6. Bid Preparation: Prepare accurate and competitive bids for construction projects.
  7. Budget Management: Assist in developing project budgets and track project costs throughout the construction process.
  8. Documentation: Maintain detailed records of cost estimates, bids, contracts, and other project-related documents.
  9. Communication: Collaborate with project managers, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure clear communication and understanding of project requirements.
  10. Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends, construction methods, and material costs to improve estimating accuracy and efficiency.


Requirements:

  1. Education: Bachelor s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  2. Experience: Previous experience in construction estimating or related field preferred.
  3. Knowledge: Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications. Familiarity with construction materials, methods, and building codes.
  4. Technical Skills: Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Sage Estimating, Procore, PlanSwift) and Microsoft Office Suite.
