I. POSITION SUMMARY


Partnering with other Regional EHS Coordinator to provide a safe and compliant work environment for all employees within First Brands. Manages and ensures compliance with internal and external audits as well as regulatory compliance.



II. NATURE & SCOPE


First Brands Group is a manufacturer of OEM and aftermarket automotive parts and accessories with facilities located in Illinois, South Carolina, Michigan, California, Ohio, Oklahoma, California, Kansas, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Arizona, and Texas. First Brands Group is headquartered in Cleveland, OH. First Brands Group manufactures and distributes OEM and aftermarket car parts and accessories nationwide and globally from our facilities.


This position reports directly to the Director of Human Resources and takes direction on corporate policies/procedures and federal/state safety and loss control regulations, such as EPA, OSHA, DOT, etc. The primary function of this position is to manage and sustain policies and programs to provide a safe and healthy workplace free from recognized hazards and to help ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state EH&S regulations.


Through site visits, audits, employee observations, recommendations and suggestions, incumbent identifies environmental, safety, and health hazards and directs appropriate corrective action to be taken. This position reviews and recommends work methods with regard to improved ergonomics, reviews SDS s, monitors hazardous material handling and usage, recommends new chemicals and personal protection equipment, adequacy of ventilation, air quality, and noise levels throughout the manufacturing and distribution facilities.


The incumbent supports sites in properly managing recordable accidents by assisting in accident investigations and ensures corrective action is taken to prevent recurrence. Provides guidance and coaching to safety committees and safety team members for each location.


Provide collaborative support to locations leadership and safety teams to develop, implement and maintain documents required OSHA, Safety, EPA, ISO 14001, DOT training or any other external audit requirement.


The position may coordinate Loss Control and/or Property Insurance visits, communicating and collaborating with site leadership and safety teams. Ensures that recommendations are reviewed, and responses forwarded to appropriate personnel for conclusion. Responsible for ensuring that the plant s fire protection and associated emergency systems are inspected and maintained per insurance, government, and corporate guidelines.


III. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES


1. Assist in the development of comprehensive strategy to establish and sustain a strong safety culture within the entire organization.

2. Assist in the design of, implement and communicate the company s health and safety policies, programs and procedures, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and industry best practices.

3. Solicit feedback on safety concerns and observations, encouraging active participation, immediate incident/injury reporting and fostering a sense of shared responsibility.

4. Analyze incident data and trends, conducting thorough investigations into accidents and near-miss incidents to identify potential safety, health and environmental risks inherent to the various environments and develop mitigation strategies.

  1. Interfaces with federal, state, local, national, and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance. Ensures compliance with environmental permits and regulatory reporting requirements. Represents the site during regulatory agency inspections, audits, and inquiries.


6. Coordinates applicable environmental, health and safety programs to ensure compliance with federal and state standards and regulations.

7. Ensures reporting of all accidents, documentation of recordable accidents, provide guidance during the accident investigation, and ensures appropriate corrective action is taken to prevent recurrence.

8. Investigate OSHA, EPA, DOT, ergonomic, safety, health and hygiene complaints, suggestions and recommendations and resolve any related problems.

9. Ensure ISO 14000 compliance.

10. Oversee Loss Control & Protection Mutual visits and ensures recommendations are reviewed and implemented as appropriate.

11. Provide direction and guidance during routine Safety Teams meetings.

12. Maintains appropriate records for applicable EH&S and DOT programs, such as, material safety data sheets, drug screenings, recordable incidents, training, etc.

13. Coach and provide guidance as the subject matter expert on EHS to create, maintain, and ensure performance against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) against which site EHS teams and site performance will be measured. Implements structures for ongoing, real-time monitoring of established KPIs.


IV. SELECTION CRITERIA


Education: Bachelor s Degree preferred or equivalent in education and experience.



Experience: Minimum of 5 years working in a manufacturing environment as environmental, health and safety profession.


Communication: Good communication skills to deal with multiple levels of the organization.

Ability to listen and discuss information.



Special Skills: Knowledge of ISO & TS standards and requirements

Knowledge of OSHA, EPA & DOT standards

Microsoft Office (ppt, excel, word, outlook)

Internal / External Auditing Experience

Knowledge/Training in First Aid & CPR

Proven experience in health, safety, and environmental leadership roles

Proven ability to develop, implement and manage effective health and safety programs.



Dependability: Must be able to maintain satisfactory record of attendance and conduct. Must be able to work any shift and overtime, as required. Must be able to travel frequently to other sites as needed.
