JOB SUMMARY: To assure surfaces of aircraft are smooth and prepared for primer and finish paint application; apply finishes to a variety of parts, assemblies and/or completed aircraft.

Painter 2 may be required to perform the duties and essential functions of Painter 3.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

I.Performs surface preparation of aircraft prior to painting. Marks areas to be filled. Mixes hardener andfiller. Applies hardener and filler to unfinished areas needing smoothing and contouring.

II.Spray primer, paint filler and protective paint on prepared surfaces.

III.Prepares plastic or fiberglass parts of aircraft using filler to provide uniform surface for paint adhesion.Uses painting equipment including brushes and spray guns to perform minor rework, touchup, priming,finish painting of partial aircraft when not otherwise engaged in paint preparation duties.

IV.Refurbishment aircraft applies chemical paint removers.

V.Roughs and finishes aircraft parts using various types of sandpaper and hand sanding machines toprovide surface for paint adhesion and smooth appearance.

VI.Works form oral and written instructions and established procedures.

VII.Prepares painted surfaces. Spray primers or various paint finishes to parts, assemblies, or completedaircraft. Uses some judgment in obtaining desired finish. May work under the guidance and instruction ofa Painter 1 and Painter 1-Lead.

VIII.Professionally applies paint to surface maintaining finish requirements acceptable to shopsupervision and quality control.

IX.Responsible for the quality of own work.

X.Other duties applying alodine, washing aircraft or sealing a variety of components.

**Qualifications**

EDUCATION:

Requires high school degree or equivalent to interpret simple drawings, apply basic math and use some measuring instruments. Requires ability to read, write and follow instructions.

EXPERIENCE:

A combination of over one year experience in paint preparation and aircraft spray painting or equivalent experience.

This role is eligible for $2,000 (pre-tax) sign-on bonus
