The Role:


The Machine Shop Manager will oversee and enhance the standards of quality, cost-effectiveness, timely delivery, employee morale, and safety within our internal Machine Shop. Additionally, they will provide support for our production and capacity planning procedures, identifying opportunities for process enhancement, particularly in streamlining machine set-up time and improving efficiencies.


Must Haves:

  • Technical degree
  • 4+ years' experience in manufacturing.
  • 5 + years' experience as a CNC Machinist or Manufacturing Engineer.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience in manufacturing.
  • Experience engaging customers and suppliers to deliver value-based solutions.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly.
  • Experience creating and validating production processes.
  • Proficiency in reading engineering blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Experience with MRP systems and lean manufacturing practices.
  • Background in employee supervision, coaching, and development.
  • Lean Manufacturing certification preferred.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure optimal operation and efficiency of all production systems.
  • Improve financial, quality, and safety performance through continuous monitoring, analysis, and implementation of process enhancements.
  • Manage scheduling, staffing, and resource allocation to meet daily production targets.
  • Recruit, train, mentor, and develop machinists across all areas of responsibility.
  • Utilize machine monitoring system data to address downtime issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Generate and analyze key performance indicators to track business unit performance.
  • Facilitate communication, cooperation, and training to promote high standards in health, safety, and environment (HSE).
  • Support internal quality processes such as layered audits and 5S assessments.
  • Drive continuous improvement through participation in Lean Kaizen events and similar initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with quality and HSE management system processes and directives.
  • Lead staff meetings to communicate production needs, introduce new processes, and provide training.
