Goodall Brazier is partnered with a leading and prominent contractor specializing in Highways, Bridges, and various aspects of Heavy Civil projects in California.

As we continue to expand our operations, we are seeking a dedicated and experienced Safety Manager to oversee all safety aspects of our heavy civil projects across California.


As the Safety Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest standards of safety across our construction sites in California. Reporting directly to the Director of Safety, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing safety programs to create a safe working environment for all personnel involved in our heavy civil projects.


Key Responsibilities:

Safety Program Development:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive safety programs for all heavy civil projects in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Conduct regular reviews and updates of safety policies and procedures to reflect industry best practices and changes in regulations.

Site Inspections and Audits:

  • Conduct regular site inspections to identify and address potential safety hazards.
  • Perform audits to ensure compliance with company safety policies and regulatory requirements.

Training and Education:

  • Coordinate and conduct safety training sessions for project personnel, emphasizing best practices and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Foster a safety-conscious culture through ongoing education and communication.
  • Incident Management:
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain detailed records of all incidents and ensure timely reporting to relevant stakeholders.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Stay abreast of changes in safety regulations and ensure the company's compliance with all applicable laws.
  • Interface with regulatory agencies during inspections and audits.

Emergency Preparedness:

  • Develop and implement emergency response plans for construction sites.
  • Conduct drills and exercises to ensure personnel are prepared for various emergency scenarios.

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and other stakeholders to integrate safety into all aspects of project planning and execution.
  • Communicate regularly with the Director of Safety and provide updates on safety performance and initiatives.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or other relevant certifications preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
