Solar QA/QC Inspector/Manager - Solar Energy

My client is an autonomous power producer specializing in the development, construction, ownership, and operation of renewable energy projects. As the U.S. branch of a publicly traded company, they leverage their robust financial foundation and extensive project expertise to construct initiatives that foster enduring benefits for local communities, landowners, stakeholders, and the environment.


Inspectors will perform frequent quality checks of the electrical, mechanical, and civil systems as well as related gear on individual utility scale solar sites. They will be responsible for the documentation and submission of quality inspection reports to their direct supervisor for review. Inspectors will be responsible for maintaining close contact and frequent communication with the site manager and other members of the quality control team. Candidates must be able to provide succinct and detailed information using multiple digital service platforms regarding the progress of the build. Notation of quality concerns are to be brought to the attention of their direct supervisor and site manager immediately for the purpose of successful remediation. In this role, candidates will be expected to learn and maintain industry quality and safety standards applied on site daily, furthermore, it is understood that this candidate will be dedicated to the study of new and ongoing quality standards within the solar tracker and fixed solar mounted industry.


Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Inspect electrical, mechanical, and civil systems within the utility-scale solar site.
  • Accurately and efficiently measure and record electrical termination and mechanical equipment torque specifications in the field.
  • Ensure that proper installation methods comply with the manufacture and current industry standard guidelines.
  • Gather, create, and organize appropriate internal and subcontractor inspection documentation.
  • Facilitate both mechanical and electrical inspection walkthroughs with subcontractors and site managers.
  • Coordinate and oversee all scheduled third-party testing and calibration services.
  • Support commissioning and post-commissioning activities as required.
  • Maintain company supplied tools, equipment, vehicles, etc. in a professional manner.
  • Promote general workplace safety and the ability to follow safety standards as well as help the company. improve upon the standards in place.


Desired Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Expertise:

  • Bachelor s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering Technology or 4 years electrical experience solar installation/troubleshooting electrical experience.
  • General understanding of the current NEC/NFPA codes.
  • Strong communication skills with concise, and effective written/verbal abilities.
  • Extensive Microsoft Software Suite, (Outlook, Teams, Planner, Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.
  • Ability to engage professionally with personnel at different levels of the company as well as contractors in the field.
  • Ability to communicate and present to different audiences.
  • Ability to work on-call during off-shift hours and weekends.
  • Ability to work in an outdoor environment and be able to travel to remote project sites.
  • Current VA certified journeyman electrician license or higher desired.
  • Valid Driver s License.
  • OSHA 10/30-hour Certification.
