Position Title: Development Assistant

Department: Administration

Reports To: Executive Director

Exempt/Nonexempt

Status: Exempt 20 hours per week-Hybrid two days a week in office for meetings

Salary $21,000-$23,000

Summary

Perform administrative functions of the organization, assisting the executive director and accounting in achieving organizational goals. Functions include managing donor accounts and organizing acknowledgments and stewardship plans.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


  • Enter donations into SalesForce weekly
  • Prepare non-automated acknowledgments and special donor handling
  • Monitor donations and automated acknowledgments in SalesForce. Work with the marketing manager to periodically change thank you messages
  • Monitor the thank you gift program and work with the marketing manager to keep up with inventory
  • Assist the Executive Director with the mailing of grants
  • Act as the first point of contact for donor account questions
  • Work closely with the Accountant in the processing of revenue and data entry.
  • Work with Development Department staff on special events and projects
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Knowledge such as usually possessed by an individual with a Bachelor s degree in liberal arts business, human services, or other business or health-related field with one or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Database system and SalesForce Experience preferred

Experience, competence, and sensitivity in working with people with physical disabilities and people of diverse races and cultures is highly valuable;

  • Ability to promote the mission of Helping Paws, garnering support and commitment by numerous stakeholders;
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills,telephone skills, with the ability to deal effectively with a wide range of internal and external audiences;
  • Ability to establish rapport with consumers and referral sources;
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy;
  • Strong knowledge of the Helping Paws program;
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends;
  • Must have a cell phone, valid Minnesota driver s license, and vehicle;
