Position: Buyer/Purchasing Specialist
Location: Clayton, NC 27527 (Hybrid: 3 days onsite per week)
Duration: 36 Months Contract
Pay Range: Approx. $24/hour + 10 Days PTO
Job Description:
Position s Contributions to Work Group:
- This role is responsible and accountable for the analysis and maintenance of purchasing and quality data including but not limited to; purchase orders, quotations, invoices, source catalogs, material rejection disposal reports, tooling records, supplier data and measurements.
- This role has responsibility for implementation of local or regional sourcing strategy, under the direction of their Manager and experienced Buyers.
- Research and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability and other relevant factors.
- Purchase the highest quality merchandise at the lowest possible price and in correct amounts.
- Prepare and manage Request for Quotations, issue purchase orders and manage cost changes.
- Monitor shipment data to ensure that goods come in on time and resolve problems related to undelivered goods.
Typical Day:
- Consult with Category Buyer, Select Suppliers, Prepare purchase orders, solicit proposals, and review requisitions for goods and services.

- 3 days in-office; 2 days remote per week.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a financial discipline preferred (other disciplines considered).
- 2-4 years finance-related experience preferred.
Technical Skills:
(Required)
- Intermediate to advanced skill in use of computer software programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Visio, PowerPoint, purchasing systems, and e-mail systems is preferred.
- SAP is not required, but highly preferred.
- Purchasing/Procurement/Supply Relationship background preferred as differentiating factor.
- Verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, negotiation skills and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to analyze financial reports, price proposals and other technical data.
- Ability to accurately document and record customer/client information.
- Ability to predict consumer buying patterns.
- Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to purchasing.
- Knowledge of supply chain management.
Soft Skills:
- Requires effective communications skills both oral and written.
- Must exhibit strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative work style.
- Required to be able to prioritize work in a dynamic environment.
