Inventory Control Specialist

Job Summary

The Inventory Control Specialist supports Production & the Warehouse through day-to-day completion of the work order close process, certain cycle counts, data entry to Sage (ERP), creating and updating work orders. Responsibilities also include tracking product yields, reporting inventory to customers, internally, to our corporate office, and continuous improvement of inventory tracking on the production floor.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Learn, practice, and adhere to all Safety policies & procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) established for NLX.
  • Learn, practice, and adhere to all Quality policies and procedures including Safe Quality Food (SQF) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP).
  • Perform daily cycle counts on consumable products and perform finished goods cycle counts as needed to insure all are counted.
  • Identifies inventory discrepancies, investigates root causes, and recommends improvements to cross-functional teams to obtain high levels of inventory accuracy.
  • Monitors location aging reports and provides feedback to the materials team to ensure transactions are performed timely and accurately.
  • Identifies racking/labeling discrepancies and proactively corrects the issues.
  • Communicate inventory and production counts.
  • Verify the materials vs the production plan to ensure that all raw materials are needed. Communicate as needed with recommendations and root cause.
  • Work with department heads and supervisors for continuous improvement of paperwork process.
  • Attend, and participate in, weekly scheduling meetings.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.


Desired Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED, minimum 3 years work experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
  • Comprehend basic math: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, weights and measures, and efficient use of a calculator
  • Strong computer skills including MS Outlook, Excel, and experience with Sage or similar ERP systems
  • Ability to work independently with little to no supervision
  • Ability to communicate well both written and orally within the organization
  • Ability to drive continuous improvement meetings
  • Ability to manage time efficiently and work well under changing demands

Must have good work ethics, be highly motivated, and a hands-on problem solver

  • Ability to detect, recognize, and judge discrepancies

Requires attention to safety, quality, accuracy, and reliability

SAGE X3 software knowledge a plus

Physical Demands

  • Vision, hearing, and speaking to meet performance standards
  • Ability to stand and/or walk for long periods, push, pull, lift, climb, bend, stoop, squat, and use manual dexterity to work with tools such as: keyboard, mouse, files, portable stairs etc.
  • Ability to safely lift 50 pounds on a frequent basis and move heavier weights using proper equipment and/or team lifting techniques


Work Environment

  • ability to work in an environment that may contain non-toxic fumes, dust, odors, moderate level noise, and temperature & ventilation variations while wearing any appropriate safety and/or protective clean room apparel required e.g.: uniforms, safety glasses, safety shoes, gloves, hair net, beard net, face mask or respirator
