Heavy Equipment Operator


Job Details

The Heavy Equipment Operator, under the supervision of the Project Foreman, Superintendent, or Civil Director, will drive or control construction equipment, including tractors, bulldozers, backhoes, or excavators, for the purposes of construction, demolition, or excavations.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate one or more types of heavy equipment such as a dozer, track hoe/excavator, or motor grader to prepare undeveloped job sites to meet job required grades
  • Construct/grade building pads to proper slope and grade specifications
  • Operate equipment efficiently to maintain production goals
  • General housekeeping and maintenance checks of equipment including reporting usage/utilization hours on a daily basis or as directed by supervisor
  • Ability to work in Alabama
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements
  • Perform any other general duties as directed

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience operating equipment during site development
  • Proficient at digging footings to required grades
  • Capable of programming GPS installed devices
  • Experience fine grading with various types of equipment
  • Must have a valid driver s license
  • Ability to accurately interpret plans
  • Completion of an OSHA 10-hour construction course required; OSHA 30-hour course preferred
  • Capable of working with minimal oversight by willing to follow directions closely
  • Ability to work in extreme weather fluctuations
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must have a great work ethic
  • Construction experience a plus
  • Must be able to accurately read gauges, dials, and other indicators, and adjust them as necessary
  • Must be reliable and have a flexible work schedule
