Mine Surveyor


Job Details

We are seeking an experienced Mine Surveyor to join our team. The surveyor will be responsible for conducting surveys and preparing detailed maps of quarry sites to ensure optimal utilization of resources, safe operations, and compliance with regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in surveying techniques, geospatial technology, and a commitment to safety and environmental sustainability.

Responsibilities:

+ Conduct comprehensive surveys of quarry sites using advanced surveying equipment such as total stations, GPS receivers, and laser scanners.

+ Collect and analyze field data to establish precise measurements, contours, volumes, and boundaries of quarry operations.

+ Prepare accurate maps, plans, and reports detailing the layout, topography, and geological features of quarry sites.

+ Monitor quarry operations to assess extraction progress, stockpile volumes, and resource depletion rates.

+ Collaborate with engineers, geologists, and mining personnel to develop effective quarrying plans and optimize production efficiency.

+ Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations in all surveying activities.

+ Conduct periodic inspections and audits of quarry infrastructure, equipment, and safety procedures.

+ Maintain up-to-date knowledge of surveying techniques, technology, and industry best practices.

+ Assist in the design and implementation of rehabilitation and reclamation projects to restore quarried areas to their natural state.

+ Provide technical expertise and support to internal teams and external stakeholders as needed.

Qualifications:

+ Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering or related field. Advanced degree or professional certification is a plus.

+ Proven experience as a surveyor in the quarrying, mining, or construction industry.

+ Proficiency in surveying software such as AutoCAD, GIS (Geographic Information Systems), and LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging).

+ Proficiency in MS Office programs (Word, Excel, and Outlook).

+ Proficiency in mining software such as Vulcan, Carlson, Surpac is a plus.

+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

+ Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

+ Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

+ High-level of organizational skills.

+ Ability to multitask and be able to prioritize multiple assignments.

+ Self-motivated, and positive in the work environment.

+ Familiarity with relevant safety and environmental regulations.

+ Physical fitness and willingness to work in outdoor environments and rugged terrain.

+ Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to different quarry sites as required.
