Plant Manager


Job Details

The ideal candidate will have experience managing both a production facility and a team. They should be able to analyze each step of the manufacturing process and make effective use of resources to deliver desired outcomes. The candidate will also have an ability to follow safety and compliance guidelines diligently in order to create a healthy work environment for all employees.

Responsibilities

  • Operate the ethanol plant while adhering to the 5 main priorities of: safety, environment, quality, production, and continuous improvement. Safety is the first priority and the operations manager must have or develop a complete understanding of OSHA requirements for plant safety, contractor safety, and process safety management (PSM) for ethanol and denaturant / gasoline.
  • Environmental compliance is the second priority. This facility will not intentionally pollute the environment and will mitigate any deviations in an acceptable manner. Regulatory visits or inquiries will be involved on an as needed basis.
  • Quality is pivotal in the plant. This position will lead the effort to communicate quality goals to the operations staff and work with other managers to develop plans to monitor quality and identify changes that need to be implemented in order to maintain quality goals.
  • Production drives the plant, but is looked at as the fourth priority. This position will manage staffing and monitor production for the facility, work with production and management team to maximize production, make decisions for operation, and ensure quality is maintained.This person will focus on efficient operation of the processes and utilize resources in an effective manner.
  • This position must stay involved in the training and education of the operations group and to promote communication between the operations staff members. It is important for this position to be mindful of developing staff for future positions, evaluating training needs, and addressing issues affecting performance. This position will evaluate staff on a regular and consistent basis.
  • This position will work with the management team as a senior level manager and make recommendations for process improvements. It is important for this position to stay involved in projects affecting the operation. These decisions will be based on daily production, maintenance, and projects and must be evaluated while being mindful of plant budgets, capital budgets, and labor plans.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or relevant field
  • 6+ years of experience with ethanol production
  • Experience in plant management and manufacturing operations Strong communication, management and supervisory skills
