As a Senior Database Administrator (DBA III), you will undertake advanced tasks in database administration, particularly focusing on databases utilized by applications with intricate data models, workflows, and reporting systems. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to create and maintain logical and physical data models within an Agile environment. The primary platforms include Oracle and Azure Microsoft SQL, with a focus on migrating data from Oracle applications to SQL schemas and optimizing database performance. Additionally, you'll be responsible for identifying and rectifying performance bottlenecks and implementing monitoring solutions for tracking database health and performance metrics.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Database Administration:

    • Perform advanced database administration tasks for databases utilized by complex applications.
    • Optimize database performance during and after migration from Oracle to SQL schemas.
    • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and implement monitoring solutions.
    • Ensure data integrity, availability, and confidentiality of sensitive and business-critical databases.
  2. Data Management and Optimization:

    • Design, develop, and maintain logical and physical data models.
    • Assist in data migrations/conversions, installations, troubleshooting, upgrades, patching, and user management.
    • Implement database policies, data replication, backup, purging, and archiving procedures.
    • Conduct database tuning, indexing, customization, transformation, and clustering for high availability.
  3. Technical Documentation and Collaboration:

    • Create technical and functional design documentation.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile (Scrum) environment.
    • Work closely with developers to convert Oracle Stored Procedures and Functions to Azure SQL.
    • Provide assistance and support to team members as needed.

Candidate Skills and Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • 10 years of experience in database administration.
  • 8 years of experience with Oracle, Microsoft SQL, or similar relational databases.
  • 8 years of experience in relational database administration (SQL Server or Oracle).
  • 8 years of experience in database design, structures, analysis, and performance tuning.
  • 8 years of experience designing enterprise applications and/or services.
  • 8 years of experience creating technical and functional design documentation.
  • 8 years of experience within software development Life Cycle using Agile methodology (Scrum).
  • 8 years of experience with multi-tier system/application development (SOA, Microservices, 3-Tier applications).
  • 8 years of experience with large volume databases, high availability, and disaster recovery infrastructure.

Preferred Skills:

  • 6 years of experience with Azure.
  • 6 years of experience in Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) data into Azure SQL.
  • 3 years of experience in DevOps technologies including CI/CD pipeline and build and deployment tools such as Git.
  • 3 years of experience in Java/J2EE Enterprise Development.
  • Azure certification is preferred but not required.
  • DBA Associate certifications are preferred but not required.
