**DEPARTMENTAL SUMMARY:** The Patient Financial Services Centralized Billing Office provides many services to our multi-hospital and medical group organization focusing on the patient financial experience along the entire continuum of care. Our goal is to deliver a delightful, transparent and seamless experience to our patients and customers that captures and collects the revenue earned by St. Charles Health System in a quality, efficient and timely manner.

**POSITION OVERVIEW:** Customer Service Specialist Interpreter and Translator delivers quality customer service to the Spanish-speaking and English-speaking community while assisting with departmental duties. This position does not directly manage any other caregivers.

**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:**

Answers incoming customer service phone calls and walk-in inquiries for the Spanish-speaking and English-speaking community.

Interprets/translates written correspondence/forms from English to Spanish and Spanish to English.

Communicates effectively with a wide range of customers, using strong interpersonal/public relation and time management skills.

Enters clear and concise documentation in the patient health information system.

Reviews/works reports and work queues.

Conducts financial interviews with patients/responsible parties to determine the ability to pay and determine the payment plan.

Maintains productivity and quality standards.

Supports the vision, mission and values of the organization in all respects.

Supports Value Improvement Practice (VIP- Lean) principles of continuous improvement with energy and enthusiasm, functioning as a champion of change.

Provides and maintains a safe environment for caregivers, patients and guests.

Conducts all activities with the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality. May perform additional duties of similar complexity within the organization, as required or assigned.

**EDUCATION**

**Required:** High school diploma or GED.

**Preferred:** Additional high school or college courses up to one year in medical terminology and office practices.

**LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION**

**Required: N/A**

**Preferred:** Completion of a Spanish Health Care Interpreter training through the Oregon AHEC Program, Portland Community College (PCC) or a similar program that meets the training requirements for the State of Oregon.

**EXPERIENCE**

**Required:** One year experience in data processing, word processing, accounting, or health care clerical work required.

Candidate must be fluent in English and Spanish.
