Vice President, Private Equity (Litigation Finance)

Our client is a prominent alternative investment firm based in Chicago with a proven track record of delivering innovative financing solutions and superior returns. They are seeking a Vice President to join their Litigation Finance team in the Chicago office.


About Litigation Finance:

Litigation finance is an emerging asset class that provides third-party capital to law firms and parties involved in legal disputes. It encompasses a range of financing options, from funding single cases to large-scale law firm loans. Litigation finance investments span various areas of law, including mass torts, intellectual property, bankruptcies, and international arbitrations. This asset class is attractive to investors due to its potential for uncorrelated returns and the inefficiencies present in the legal finance market.


Key Responsibilities:

- Source, underwrite, negotiate and manage unique legal finance deals

- Collaborate with the investment team to develop and execute innovative strategies

- Conduct in-depth quantitative and qualitative analyses for deal underwriting and structuring

- Build relationships with top law firms, executives, and institutional investors

- Develop financial models to assess potential transactions and portfolio companies

- Support due diligence efforts, including business analysis and risk assessment

- Create investment memos and presentations for internal and external stakeholders

- Oversee portfolio companies and drive value creation initiatives

- Provide leadership and mentorship to junior team members


Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field from a top-tier program

- 2+ years of experience in investment banking, private credit, mezzanine, or private equity

- Proven excellence in financial modeling, legal analysis and deal negotiations

- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage junior staff

- Exceptional communication, relationship-building and stakeholder management skills

- Entrepreneurial mindset, intellectual curiosity and drive to excel
