Summary:

Support the Fulfillment Center and Spoke transportation organization in maintaining on-time delivery to customers and stores, promote and coach a culture of safety, and enhance quality within the FC through cross-functional communication. Utilize key performance indicators to improve the customer service experience, delivery efficiency, and driver engagement. Demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety. Responsible for moving vans to and from various warehouse locations to accommodate the needs of all areas of the fulfillment center and/or spoke locations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Other duties may be assigned:

* Assist drivers in their pre/post trip inspections

* Update equipment activity and yard control system

* Handle all processing and reporting of yard safety or over-the-road incident

* Communicate daily with fellow drivers and supervisors on daily operational activities

* Manage and promote safety and sanitation in all areas

* Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation

* Identify and troubleshoot issues and communicate to supervision for resolution

* Load and unload orders onto vans in a safe/efficient manner when needed

* Separate and move totes when needed learn to operate special, job-specific equipment, vans and technology Maintain flexibility to work weekends, nights, overtime and holidays on a regular basis

* Move vans on transportation grounds to meet the needs of the fulfillment center,

* Move loaded vans that are dropped by outside drivers to the appropriate door to be unloaded

* Maintain knowledge of van status and be aware of all yard activities

* Document van and door assignments on door sheet

* Follow safety guidelines and encourage a safe work environment for all associates

* Follow approved attendance and tardiness policy

* Wash and sanitize vans and trailers as needed

* Follow through with the requests and recommendations of the Transportation

Supervisors/Manager

* Adapt to various situations and adjust to shifting priorities

* Support company policies and procedures

* Comply with dress code guidelines

* Provide excellent customer service while delivering orders to the customer

* Act as a brand ambassador when discussing Harris Teeter's Seamless Experience and delivery process with customers

* Ensure a high degree of professionalism and personal presentation when interacting with customers

* Drive a company vehicle safely and in accordance to Harris Teeter's driving standards

* Ensure customer orders are delivered on time and in good condition, resolving any issues that may occur

* Maintain customer communication while in route to inform them of any issues or changes to their delivery in adherence with Harris Teeter delivery standards

* Control and maintain an accurate record of customer deliveries

* Ensure that goods are kept within the correct temperature guidelines; monitor and record temperatures to follow food health and safety regulations

* Handle product safely and in accordance with food safety guidelines; record any serious breakages or contamination issues and report to supervisor

* Complete pre-inspections check of company vehicle before use and report any defects to supervisor

* Operate company provided technology devices for mapping and customer interaction

* Other duties as may be assigned or required

Qualifications and abilities:

Education/experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in the operation of tractors and trailers required.

Must be at least 21 years of age with a valid driver's licenses.

Comply with applicable DOT regulations (which may include a DOT physical examination), if applicable for your position
