Company Description

Search Services Manager is a highly visible and collaborative Engineering Management position with incredible ability to impact the organization by managing and modernizing our Search application. Reporting to the Director of Discovery Domain Services, this role is responsible for collaborating across business users, stakeholders, and other engineering teams to define the vision and strategy while leading the daily activities to enable execution of the vision. They will work with the Technical Product Owner to develop and measure OKRs.

The Search Services team is responsible for Product, Catalog and Keyword Search APIs using Elastic Search. Team also owns indexing new products, categories, inventory and other information, operational monitoring etc.

What Will You Be Doing?

  • Lead a team of engineers in the design, development, deployment, monitoring and maintenance of all applications in search services team.
  • Define and implement strategies and roadmaps, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Collaborate with other engineering teams to integrate their applications and services.
  • Ensure application stability, scalability, and security through proactive monitoring, maintenance, and continuous improvements.
  • Manage development projects, including prioritizing tasks, coordinating with stakeholders, and tracking progress.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and experimentation, encouraging the team to experiment with new technologies and approaches to improve the applications.
  • Participate in on-call support duties.
  • Partner with Technical Product owner to establish OKRs and track progress.
  • Work with Vendor to understand product roadmap and partner with them to share/incorporate our needs.
  • Team up with cross functional teams to ensure all business requirements are being met.
  • Ensure support structures are well defined and socialized throughout the teams
What Do You Need To Bring?
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience leading an engineering team, with a focus on product and catalog data, Elastic Search and related tools.
  • Strong technical skills, including knowledge of cloud computing, containerization, and DevOps practices.
  • Experience with project management and the ability to effectively prioritize and coordinate multiple projects.
  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to motivate and manage a team, and to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with agile software development methodologies and a track record of delivering high-quality software on time and on budget.
  • Understanding and experience with test driven development is required.
  • Understanding of search application landscape, integration with AI and ML tools, Sorting, Natural language processing is helpful.
  • Experience working in multi-brand, multi-language, multi-geography applications.
