GUEST SERVICES REPRESENTATIVE

OVERVIEW

The purpose of this position is to provide prompt, courteous, and professional service to guests, and trainees.

The position reports to the Museum Operations Manager but actively participates as a part of a team that includes guest services and theater operations. This team effort is to broadly organize, plan, and execute the mission for the U.S. Space and Rocket Center.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Functions

Museum Ticketing

  1. Process admission accommodation for daily guests in an accurate and timely manner ensuring that guests receive quality and professional service.
  2. Meet or exceed the expectations of the Museum Operations Manager for the accuracy and security of cash transactions.
  3. Fulfill membership orders promptly.
  4. Ensure that the ticket desk is opened and closed following the museum's operating hours.
  5. Ensure that kennels, strollers, and wheelchairs are well-maintained, in proper working condition, and secured at the end of the business day.
  6. Respond to, and whenever possible, resolve guests' questions and complaints promptly both in-person and over the phone.
  7. Meet or exceed the expectations of the Museum Operations Manager for the accurate and timely completion of related tasks and assignments.
  8. Meet or exceed the expectations of the Museum Operations Manager for providing guests with a quality museum experience, including exemplary operation of all museum simulators.
  9. Maintain a tidy work environment at the ticket desk, e.g. removal of trash, filling and organizing of sales brochures.
  10. Other duties as assigned, e.g. mascots, driving small electric vehicles.


Concessions

  1. Operate the Theater concession stand in an accurate and timely manner and follow written procedures and State Health regulations.
  2. Meet or exceed the expectations of the Museum Operations Manager for the accurate and timely completion of related tasks and assignments.
  3. Collect tickets promptly from guests entering the theater ensuring that they are at the correct presentation.
  4. Respond to, and whenever possible, resolve guests' questions and complaints promptly.
  5. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by conducting thorough cleanings of the theater & surrounding areas before & after movies.


Museum Exhibits and Simulators

  1. Meet or exceed Rocket Center professional and safety standards for the safe, effective, and efficient operation of all simulators (museum and outside simulators).
  2. Perform safety checks, and complete required checklists proper to opening simulators to ensure correct and safe operation. Ensure that simulators are operated correctly and on schedule.
  3. Report any simulator problems or malfunctions to the Simulation Technical staff promptly.
  4. Meet or exceed the expectations of the Museum Manager/Asst. Managed to provide guests and trainees with a quality and sage simulator experience.
  5. Facilitate daily activities for groups of all ages enthusiastically and professionally.
  6. Continuously patrol the museum area promptly assist guests and answer questions.
  7. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment for guests, trainees, and employees.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education

  • Education: High School or equivalent desired.


Required Experience

  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Experience: Some experience working with the public is strongly desired. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. 3-6 months of experience handling cash and operating a cash register in a guest service environment preferred.
  • Behavioral and Performance Skills: Candidates must be organized, responsible, ethical, lively, energetic, and charismatic.


OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Physical Requirements

  • Standing for long periods (6-9 hours) or the duration of shift assisting guests. Operating ticket desk and cash register.
  • Bending, kneeling, reaching to store & retrieve supplies, assisting guests, and lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds to waist height.
  • Talking and hearing to communicate with supervisors, guests, co-workers, and trainees.


Eligibility Qualifications

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

Environmental Factors

  • This position involves working in both a climate-controlled environment and outside where exposed to various weather conditions and changing temperatures.
  • This position deals extensively with the public, trainees of all ages, and employees throughout the organization.


Expected Hours of Work

  • Requires day and evening shifts and must be able to work weekends.
